"Stay in the Loop" 19th Edition
Letter From the Principal
Yesterday, Army Captain, Derek Moore, came to speak to the 5-8 graders about success and leadership. He left students with the message of the 3 Cs - Courage, Character, and Christ. Captain Moore shared that following these 3 Cs will cultivate the qualities of a leader and help us to be successful and to achieve our calling. He startled students by saying summer isn't really a break! Captain Moore set forth a challenge that will lead our students into a great summer. He said that you should read as much as you can and accomplish at least one thing everyday.
As we wrap up a wonderful school year, we hope that your family has a relaxing summer filled with togetherness, fun, and downtime! However, we would be remiss if we didn't remind you to have your children do the following daily: read, practice math facts, pray...and accomplish one thing each day! Please look for one more newsletter on June 2, as it will be filled with summer resources!

Auction "Experience" Winners
Some of our most popular auction items are our staff and community experiences. Several of our students had the opportunity to participate in these exciting experiences this week. Thanks to the parents who bid on these fun events to support our school!
Panthers Make a Difference
We are incredibly proud of seventh graders, Addison Harsh and Gianna Lomonico, for organizing and hosting a fundraising walk to raise over $1,400 for a St. Pius Parish family. These girls saw a need and created a way to make a positive difference. Their vision and leadership will enable this family to purchase and train a service dog for their son with Autism.
When Alyssa DeLong dropped her belongings in the safety zone, Eldana Natneal stopped and helped her! Officer Rettig was impressed with how Eldana made a difference!
Congratulations to Sammy Gerardi and Dominic Louiso for being recognized as the SPX Serra Club Altar Servers of the Year by Bishop Fernandes at St. Joseph Cathedral!
Teacher Appreciation Week*
We💙our SPX teachers and staff members! Last week, our staff members enjoyed many treats donated by many of our school organizations. Happy teachers produce happy students and we want to honor them and fill our school with joy! Our teachers enjoyed a week of special meals and treats, spinning a prize wheel, Dress Down Days, and "gifts of time." Thanks to our Home & School Chairs, Lisa Lomonico and Katie Chilicki, for organizing meals from Tortilla Street Food and Chick-Fil-A! (We'd also like to thank Mr. Equez, father of Eli, for always being so generous with his DELICIOUS food!)
May is the Month of Mary
Our 2nd graders did a beautiful job honoring Mary during our May Crowning prayer service!
Our Jr. High students held a Living Rosary prayer service to honor our Blessed Mother. Students prayed the rosary in many different languages to represent the universality of the Catholic faith.
SPX Teachers Make Learning Irresistible!
8th Grade Rube Goldberg Machine projects used most of the supplies in the lab, and let students practice persistence and problem solving, while demonstrating their understanding of simple machines and physics.
Kindergarteners are spellers! These smart students used glow sticks to practice their word lists!
