Belle Elementary Family Newsletter

The end of first quarter is quickly approaching and we are preparing for Parent/Teacher Conferences this Monday, October 23 from 1 to 7 pm. If you haven't had a chance to confirm an appointment with your child's teacher, their is still time! We look forward to seeing families at the event and value your partnership in educating your child.

The Book Fair is coming next week and will be open at Parent/Teacher Conferences on October 23rd from 1 to 7!

School hours this year are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Please do not drop off your child unattended in the mornings prior to 7:30 am.

Tiger Time started on September 27th. Tiger Time is thirty minutes of specific reading instruction that is given to every student at Belle Elementary that is based off of need of instruction from reading testing.

School staff collaborate every 4 to 6 school weeks to review every students growth and needs for reading growth. Groups are then reformed with new skills to teach! This is a fun time aimed at helping your child grow in their reading skills!

On Thursday, November 9th Title I will be hosting a fun reading game night. Students will take home their own reading game. Game night will be at 6pm in the elementary cafeteria. More information to come!

Congratulations to Taylyn Ahart! She was nomintated by her teachers to be the September Belle Elementary Board Student of the Month. Taylyn's teacher, Mrs. Hance had these wonderful things to say about Taylyn!

Taylynn is such a sweet young lady. She is an exemplary student in and out of the classroom. She is quick to volunteer to share thoughts and ideas, and she always offers to help anyone with any task that they need help with. She often steps up to help me with various tasks in the classroom as well. Taylynn is very kind to other students. She maintains a quiet, polite demeanor. Taylynn is also very intelligent, and I believe she will continue to be successful in all that she sets out to do.

This month our Tigeriffic Trait is “Be a Listener.” Each month we highlight a new character trait that helps students build skills that will help them to be successful at school! A student from each classroom will be recognized for displaying this positive character trait at the PBIS assembly on the first Friday of the month.

This year there are new state requirements to help students in reading. Students who are identified from reading testing who exhibit a substantial defieciency in reading will receive a Reading Success Plan (RSP). The RSP will help schools develop a strategic plan to help each student who is recognized in needing additional reading help. Family information will go out later this week through the mail to inform families if their child qualified for an RSP. Your child's teacher will also have that information to discuss at Parent/Teacher Conferences.

Applications are now being accepted for Missouri's Close the Gap Grant.

This program provides a one-time grant of up to $1,500 for Missouri K-12 grade public school district and charter school students to use towards allowable educational expenses.

Artsonia permission forms went out recently. If you haven’t given permission yet for your kiddo to show off their work online, now is a GREAT time to do it! You’ll be able to see what they are up to in art class, and you can order items with their artwork on it! There are a good range of items for purchase, and they are all great quality! These make really wonderful Christmas gifts, Mother’s Day/Father’s Day gifts, birthday gifts, or even just because gifts! I still have a key chain my now Freshman in college created the artwork for in 4th grade! The art department does get a kick back from purchases, which helps me pay for things to build up my classroom!
