The Blue Angel Weekly
October 9, 2023
Dear PCA Families,
We hope you are enjoying the long weekend! School is closed today for staff and students. Tomorrow is a Professional Day for staff and no school for students!
On Wednesday, our 8th graders will be taking the PSAT. Please keep them in your prayers as they take this practice test. Students will take the PSAT online in the Computer Lab. Since this is a practice test, no accommodations will be given for this test.
The end of the 1st quarter (October 13th) is quickly approaching! Please be sure to check your child's grades in RenWeb (grades 3-8) and contact the teacher if you have any concerns. First quarter report cards will be emailed home on October 24.
***WE ARE VERY SHORT ON LUNCH AND RECESS VOLUNTEERS FOR THIS WEEK!! PLEASE SIGN UP IF YOU CAN!***

***important - please read about carline safety!***
1. Please DO NOT pull out of the carline once your child is unloaded/loaded. Please stay in the line and wait until everyone moves.
2. Please DO NOT use your cell phone during carline! This poses a great danger to staff and students. We do not want to have any accidents or injuries. Also, being on your phone causes a delay in the carline as you are not moving up with the line.
3. PLEASE MOVE ALL THE WAY UP to the car in front of you and put your car in park when your child is being loaded or unloaded. Again, this will help move the carline more quickly and keep everyone safe.
4. If someone new is picking up your child who is not delegated in the PikMyKid app, we will ask for ID. Please let that person know that this is for your child's safety. We are not trying to frustrate anyone! Several of our staff have been yelled at because they asked for ID. THIS IS SCHOOL POLICY!
5. For your children's safety, please do not let them load or unload themselves from the car. Please wait for a staff member to open the car door.
6. If you need to buckle your child in, please do so in HOLDING, NOT in the carline. We have 470 students that we need to get into their vehicles safely and quickly.
7. Please be kind to our staff who are loading/unloading your child. If you have an issue or concern about carline procedures, please email me or Mrs. Earp. Staff members are just following school policy, and they do not deserve to be yelled at or disrespected.
8. Please do not come early for pick-up! Remember your children's release time is the release time of your oldest child:
Kindergarten through Grade 2 releases at 2:50 PM
Grades 3-5 releases at 2:55 PM
Grades 6-8 releases at 3:05 PM
Students can not be released before their assigned time - we need to account for all academic minutes!
9. Do not park along the side of the fence if you arrive early. It is a danger to those coming in and causes more of a back-up on the road.
10. PLEASE NOTE: your children are safe and happy inside the building! You do not need to be early!
Thank you for understanding!
***RED RIBBON WEEK - oCTOBER 23-27***
***a note about birthday treats***
Please follow these rules in regards to birthday treats:
1. Please send in all of the same kind of treat. For example, if sending in cookies, please send in all of the same cookie, not different varieties. When you send in options, it causes a delay in handing out the treat during our limited lunch time.
2. Please send in enough treats for the whole grade when treats are distributed in the cafeteria. Most grades combine classes at lunch so students can sit with their friends. This might cause one student to get a treat and the one next to them to not get a treat.
3. PLEASE - SCHOOL RULE IS NO ICING ON THE TREATS! Please help us with this! Again, we have limited time for clean-up and the extra sugar is not conducive to afternoon teaching and learning!
4. Please notify the classroom teacher via email of when and what treat you will be sending in IN ADVANCE so staff is prepared for the distribution.
Thank you for your cooperation!
