Message from Josh Regnier - Assistant Principal

Hello Spartan Nation,

I hope this letter finds you well and that you all had some time last week to enjoy Thanksgiving Break with family and friends. It is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of the semester! I personally love this time of year because for me it is a time of reflection, and looking back on the first semester I couldn't be more proud of our students and staff for all of the accomplishments and memories that we have made in the four short months that we have been in session. From the classroom, to the field, to the various events that we have competed in and everything in between, we have truly showcased exactly what it means to be a Spartan!

As we look forward to the month of December we have much to be excited about. Our Spartan football team will be chasing their 5th straight State Championship this Friday, December 2nd @ 7:00 versus Owasso; and the Spartan dance team will be competing in the OSDTDA State competition on Saturday, December 10th. Additionally, we have our H.S. Band students competing in the second round of All-State this month and we will be partnering with the Bixby Outreach Center on December 10th to Fill a Trailer. You can find more information about these events below.

Finally, as we end the second semester students will be preparing to take their semester finals. Our semester finals bell schedule will remain the same with students attending each of their classes on the 15th and 16th; however, students will take their odd period semester finals on the 15th and their even period semester finals on the 16th. Furthermore, due to semester finals, Friday, December 16th will not be an Early Release Day.

This Friday, December 2nd, the Spartans head to UCO to take on the Owasso Rams for the 6A-1 State Title!

2022 State Dance Showoff - December 3rd @ 11:00

Come support the Bixby Varsity Dance Team at our State Showoff before we head to state!!! It's free and a great way to see all of the hard work our team has put in this season. The Showoff will feature performances by Bixby Premiere Pom and Turning Pointe! You won't want to miss it!

Career Talks - Health - December 7th

Are you interested in the medical field? Nursing? Physician? Respiratory Therapist? Radiologist?

Students interested in pursuing a career in the medical field have an opportunity to hear medical workers from Saint Francis Hospital speak about careers in the health field. Careers of interest include: Physician, Surgeons, Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, Radiology Technicians, and Administration.

The speakers will be here next Wednesday, December 7th at 11:30am in the High School Auditorium so PLEASE BE SURE to eat during 1st lunch so you can be on time to the career talk. Students will be released to 4th hour following the speaker presentations.

Be Well

Be Well is led by student leaders and the school counseling team with the main goal to improve student well being through touch points of positivity to improve happiness, reduce stress and to make the day brighter at Bixby High School! Regular gatherings are available for all students ranging from Spartan Therapy Dogs, yoga, creative expression craft activities, esteem and confidence building, thoughtful and inspiring treats, and other special activities to spread joy and kindness.

Bixby Spartan Dance Team Competes in Regionals

Congratulations to the Bixby Spartan Dance team who competed in Regional action recently. BVDT placed 2nd in Kick, 5th in Pom, and 6th in Spirit Showdown. Congratulations!!!

Congratulations Olivia Wallace - 2023 All-State Large East Volleyball Team

Congratulations to two of our seniors, Emma and Tyler, for making the All-Region East Cheer Team!

AP Physics 3rd Annual Toothpick Bridge Competition

AP Physics 1 students recently completed the 3rd Annual Toothpick Bridge competition. Their goal is to build a bridge that has the highest ratio of mass held to the mass of the bridge. Our winners this year are:

1st place: Jazmine Barbee and Ethan Morris

2nd place: Benjamin Gatewood and Nolan Pardue

3rd place: Hannah Wutzke

We also have a most mass held winner: Ryan Humphries, with over 17 kilograms!

Congratulations Gage Nold

Gage Nold shot a perfect 25 out of 25 in trap at the Connors State College trap and skeet match! Then, to establish a possible tie-breaker score, he kept going until he missed, eventually shooting 46 straight, then one miss, and finally hitting the last 3. 49 out of 50 hits! Congratulations Gage!

OSUIT Campus Visit

Students enrolled in the Comp I / Applied Technology program through OSUIT had a campus visit where they learned how to wire electrical circuits along with other skills.

Career Talk - Public Safety

Students interested in a career in Public Safety had the opportunity to hear speakers from our community who work in the Public Safety Career Field, featuring Mike Butler - Bixby Fire Marshall, Jared Cottle - City Manager/City Office, and Todd Blish - Bixby Chief of Police. The speakers engaged in conversations that include higher education requirements and pathways to enter careers in Public Safety.
