General Information
There have been a lot of things that are starting up this past month and a lot of awards.
Doodle For Google Competition is currently open. This year's theme is I am Grateful for...
This is a scholarship opportunity for students. Students can come to get a paper and the Google Classroom Code from me.
All 7th & 8th grade TAG students are invited to participate in the Finance Park field trip in March. Attending will require about 2-3 hours of pre-work and will cost $18. Students can come to pick up a workbook from me and join the Google Classroom from the link in their weekly emails.
We are working hard with KUNA to get ready to represent countries from all around the world.
Karigan Tingle (East Middle School) received a $500 grant through WKU Drs. Mody Service Learning Competition. She will expand her current teacher appreciation week project and lead younger students to continue her good work.
Avery Oliver's service learning project is in full swing. She is hosting a food drive between all three middle schools. Please support her efforts and your school's chance to win by donating food. See the flyer below on items we need.
In January, we attend the Future City Competition and won big. This year West brought home awards. The 8th-grade team, New Jubail, won the Best City Presentation Award. The 7th-grade team, Cape Town, won Best Land Surveying Award. Rachel Holiway won Best Presenter. East also brought home awards. The 8th-grade team, Salt Lake City, won the Best City Essay Award. The 7th-grade team, Raleigh, won Best Futuristic Design. Students were competing with 26 teams from all over Kentucky. All six teams work hard to prepare for this competition.
This year West 8th-grade team, New Jubail, won the Regional competition. They will head to DC next week to compete against other regional winners. This team consists of Rachel Holiway, Tyler Fisher, and Alex Gomelsky. Please congratulate these students on all their hard work and dedication to this project.
I will send a link to students' emails with how to watch one of their presentations on Monday, January 20th. I will also email teachers to let them know about Future City Finals on Tuesday.
