Spring FFA Career and Development Events

Celeste FFA judging teams have been traveling all over the state of Texas this spring competing in livestock, wool and horse judging events. The teams have been preparing for the Area 5 CDE contest which was held on April 17 & 18, 2018. Read on to find out how the teams did!

March 12 ~ Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

The spring judging season kicked off with a trip to Houston to compete at the Houston Livestock Show Livestock Judging Contest. Both junior and senior teams competed. Junior Team: Madisyn Douglas, Koby Brown and Paris Walker placed 69th out of 145 teams. Madisyn was the high point individual on her team. Senior Team 1: Jaxson Dillard, Jaycee Brown and Kloe Walker placed 75th out of 320 teams with Jaxson being the high point individual. He placed 131st out of 1,005 individuals. Senior Team 2: Britton Evans, Raegan Sumrow and Justin Richey also competed with Britton scoring the highest for the team.

On the Road with Celeste FFA Judging Teams

The Celeste FFA judging teams have been busy over the last three weeks traveling to contests at Tarleton State in Stephenville, North Central Texas College in Gainesville, Heart of Texas in Waco, West Texas A&M in Canyon, Clarendon College in Clarendon, and Valley Invitational in Turkey, Texas.

NCTC Invitational Horse Contest

On Mar 29, 2018, Jackylnn Jackson, Cheylynn Hill and Cori Jordan judged at the North Central Texas College Horse Judging Contest. Jacklynn Jackson was the high point individual for the team.

Heart O' Texas Fair Invitational

April 4, 2018

At the Heart of Texas in Waco the livestock team placed 12th out of 125 team and Jaxson placed 24th out of 502 contestants. The Wool Judging team placed 16th and Dusty Soles finished 50th and Karalyn 60th out of 161. The horse team also competed and did well. The horse team placed 50th and Jacklynn Jackson was 48th out of 283 contestants.

At the Tarleton State University contest, the livestock team placed 37th out of 237 teams and Jaxson finished 57 out of 1066 contestants. The wool team competed well with Kambrie placing in the top 100 out of close to 300 contestants.

Clarendon College Invitational

April 7, 2018

The contest held at Clarendon was a hard one. Contests are outside except for wool and the temp was 22 degrees with an 8 degree wind chill. We are proud of the kids for hanging in there and competing. Individually in the livestock contest Jaxson place 68 out 400 and Kloe Walker was in the top 100. Jacklynn Jackson and Cheylynn Hill both placed in the top 100. The wool team place 22 and Karlayn Goodman was high individual on the team.

Valley FFA Invitational CDE

April 7, 2018


At the Valley contest in Turkey, Texas, the livestock team placed 11th overall and Raegan Sumrow placed 22nd and Jaycee Brown placed 45th out of 228 individually. The wool team placed 12th with Kambrie placing 33rd.

TAMU-C Area CDE Competition

April 17, 2018



The dairy and livestock judging teams traveled to Sulphur Springs to the Hopkins County Convention Center for the contests. Texas A&M University-Commerce was in charge of the event. Results are as follows:

Livestock Judging Team Competes at State!

April 28, 2018


The livestock judging team competed at the state livestock judging contest which was held at Texas A&M University on April 28, 2018. The team consisting of Jaxson Dillard, Jaycee Brown, Raegan Sumrow and Kloe Walker, made it to the top 50 at the state level. Jaxson Dillard was the high point individual on the team. He placed 34th out of 386 contestants.
