A note from Ms. Walsh
Happy Friday Mountain View, and happy Spring Break! I hope everyone is looking forward to some rest, relaxation, and family time. We had a fun Friday today, with the Hollyrock assembly, Advisory, pep rally games, and locker cleanout. In thinking ahead, Spring Break is a great time to check out some of the shows your children watch, and their social media profiles. Many of the shows that students have access to on various platforms (Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, etc) contain mature content that could be developmentally inappropriate for middle school students. Many of these shows have reviews on Common Sense Media, where parents have the opportunity to provide reviews of movies, tv shows and books to determine if they are appropriate for various ages. The reviews detail specific topics and content that parents should be aware of (i.e. excessive language, inappropriate content, drug use) and display an age at which they believe the content is most appropriate (i.e. 16+).
Check out this link to search some of your child's favorite shows to see what they might be exposed to: https://www.commonsensemedia.org/tv-reviews.
