Panther Pause
23 years of Pride at Colleyville Heritage High School
4.17.20
Panthers,
As we close out another week of virtual learning, I am reminded about how hard both our students and staff are working to make this virtual environment a success. I know it has not been easy for anyone, but I am incredibly proud of the amount of energy and effort everyone has put in and it has truly filled me with PRIDE! This weekend you will be able to see progress checks entered into Skyward to update you on how your child is performing in their school work. Their progress will be noted in the comments section. There will be three categories that teachers will enter: Adequate progress (AP), Minimal progress (MP) and No Progress (NP). It is important to note that only adequate progress is meeting the passing standard for this grading period. We will also be posting on May 1 and May 15. Our hope is that these progress reports will give you a better understanding of how your student is progressing during this time of virtual learning. Have a great weekend and GO PANTHERS!

Please consider nominating a parent, teacher, staff member, campus administrator, local business, or community member who has gone above and beyond for our school, staff, and students. Please note: Friend of Children Award nominees do NOT have to be members of PTSA or work for GCISD. Each year, CHHS recognizes those who support our school through these three types of awards:
* FRIEND OF CHILDREN AWARD - This award may be presented to anyone you would like to honor; an outstanding volunteer, teacher, principal, assistant principal, school staff member, school custodian, cafeteria worker, featured speaker, grandparent, business person or owner who continually supports CHHS, the students and/or our PTSA. The person does not have to be a PTSA member.
* HONORARY LIFE MEMBERSHIP AWARD - An Honorary Texas Life Membership is one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon an individual by the Texas PTA for outstanding contributions to the well-being of children and youth. This person must be a member of the PTSA and support the Objectives of PTSA.
* EXTENDED SERVICE AWARD - In 1987, the Texas PTA Board of Directors developed the criteria for awarding a Texas PTA Extended Service Award to those who have continued to give outstanding service to the Texas PTA. This recipient must have been actively involved in the Texas PTA for ten (10) years and be a Texas Life Member.
Nomination forms must be submitted by Monday, April 24.
Awards will be presented at the PTSA General Meeting in May.
If you have any questions please contact Debra Hurley at awards@chhsptsa.org

AP Exams Information (located on the FAQs Page)
The College Board released a new statement on March 20 that included important information, including:
- Providing free remote learning resources.
- Investing in the development of a new at-home testing option.
- Traditional face-to-face exam administrations will not take place.
- Some students may want to take the exam sooner rather than later, while the content is still fresh. Other students may want more time to practice. For each AP subject, there will be 2 different testing dates.

School Report Card
You will find a copy of the State of Texas 2018–19 School Report Card for Colleyville Heritage High School. This is a report required by the Texas Legislature and prepared by the Texas Education Agency. It is to be sent to the parent or guardian of every child enrolled in a Texas public school. The report provides information concerning student performance on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®), as well as information on student enrollment, class size averages, and financial expenditures.
The information contained in the School Report Card is required by state law and is briefly described in the enclosed “2018–19 School Report Card Definitions.” The report for our school may or may not have all the information described because the information presented depends on whether the school is an elementary, middle, or high school.
State law requires that the School Report Card display information about the state, the district, and the school. Where possible, the information must be reported by race/ethnicity and socioeconomic status of the students and must include at least two years of results.
The School Report Cards can be found online at https://rptsvr1.tea.texas.gov/perfreport/src/2019/campus.srch.html
A more complete report about Colleyville Heritage High School, the Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR), is available by contacting my office or can be accessed online at https://tea.texas.gov/Student_Testing_and_Accountability/Accountability/State_Accountability/Performance_Reporting/Texas_Academic_Performance_Reports
Please contact me if you have any questions concerning this report card. Thank you for your continued support of Colleyville Heritage High School.
Sincerely,
Lance Groppel,

Secondary STEM News
Note from the Nurse
Welcome back to CHHS! I hope you all had a safe and healthy summer. As it is the beginning of the year, I wanted to give a friendly reminder to everyone that we do need new permission forms for any and all medications every year. We do allow students to carry inhalers and EpiPens with a Dr. signing their permission form, all other prescriptions are kept in
the clinic and administered from the clinic. We do have a permission form for students to carry over the counter medications. This requires a parent and student signature annually. Please help us keep all of our students safe by following these protocols.
I can accept a fax or email scan of permission forms. Please read and review the rules for medications at school with your student.
Forms can be found here:

VOLUNTEER BACKGROUND CHECK
