10/02/22 BHS Tiger News
This Week's News and Updates
Belleville High School
HAPPY October BHS Families, this is Week #5 of the school year. Our building focus for this week is on ATTENDANCE. Students being in class everyday and ON TIME for each class is the first indicator of their success. Those who are late to classes and who miss class are at risk of missing important information, getting behind, and eventually failing classes if attendance issues become severe. Families of students who have already missed 5 days will be receiving Truancy Letters this week, with additional information as it relates to the court system.
As a special note, THIS Wednesday is both Count Day and an Early Release Day for Teacher Professional Development (see schedule below).
Thank you for your attention to the information provided in this newsletter. Have a wonderful week - in Purpose, Excellence, and ACHIEVEMENT!
GO TIGERS!!
~ Principal Crockett, AP Mrs. Green, AP Mr. Roberson, AP Mr. Wright, BNT Director Mr. Wilsey, and AD Mr. Brodie
MOVING FORWARD: IF YOU RECEIVE AN ATTENDANCE CALL, it will NO LONGER include tardies. Tardies will be handled through the general discipline policy checklist as a minor infraction. If you receive an attendance notice via phone or text, this means your student MISSED AT LEAST ONE CLASS that day. If it was not approved by a parent/guardian, this is cause for a follow up with them.
Parent Connection/MiStar Password Changes
PASSWORD CHANGES: Please be aware that, beginning tomorrow (Oct 3rd), MiStar will be requiring all users to change their passwords for ParentConnection access. This is a periodic reset to support account security.
Early Release this Wednesday
St. Anthony's Church = Private Property
NOTICE: Please be sure to NOT trespass on the church next door's property. We received notice from them last week regarding parents parking, sitting in cars, blocking entrances, and being rude to clergy and staff. We ask that our adults model excellent behavior and are a great example for our young people. Thank you!
2022 Sinking Fund – Vote November 8th!
This November, Van Buren Public Schools has a sinking fund proposal on the ballot. A sinking
fund is used to keep our buildings and facilities in good condition so they can continue to be
safe, secure spaces for our children to learn. Our district has had a sinking fund in place for the
past 24 years. During that time, the sinking fund has played a critical role in the upkeep and
good condition of our facilities.
If approved by voters, the 2022 sinking fund would be used to upgrade SECURITY, TECHNOLOGY, and INFRASTRUCTURE across the District.
Example projects include:
- Security equipment (cameras, etc.)
- Secure entry access (card readers, etc.)
- Security IT infrastructure
- Upgrading student devices
- Parking lot upgrades
- Upgrading instructional technology devices
- Upgrading network infrastructure
- Lighting and electrical upgrades
- Mechanical and plumbing upgrades
