3. DESE Report Card
Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Report Card
We are pleased to include an overview of our school’s “report card” provided annually by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Report cards provide answers to questions about a school's overall performance and contain specific information about student enrollment and teacher qualifications, student achievement, accountability, how our school is performing relative to other schools in the district and the state, and the progress made toward narrowing proficiency gaps for different groups of students.
As a school we remain committed to each individual student’s success and fulfillment of our mission to prepare all students to succeed in four-year colleges. As a school, we have set academic priorities for all students to engage in rigorous, grade level work each day and meet expectations on MCAS. All of the data included in the report card helps us to identify students', curricular and programming strengths and areas in need of additional support.
For more information about our school’s report card or to request information about the qualifications of your child’s classroom teachers, please feel free to contact us at (617) 333-6688.

10. Class of 2024 – Junior College Counseling Caseload Assignments
All juniors (Class of 2024) have now been assigned to a college counselor to begin working on the post-secondary process. Throughout the rest of the second semester, juniors will have the opportunity to connect individually with their college counselor, as well as attend several after school workshops related to college and career. Please be sure to connect with your junior about these resources, and also be on the lookout for an email from your student’s college counselor introducing themselves!
11. Extracurricular and Enrichment Programs
The Red Sox Scholars is a college success program that awards a $10,000 college scholarship to 12 Boston Public School 7th graders each year. The Foundation then provides academic, professional, and social support to students for at least the next nine years to ensure they graduate from college with as little debt as possible and prepared to enter the workforce – as well as feeling part of a family of resources for years to come! The 2023 Red Sox Scholars Application (and eligibility requirements) can be viewed and downloaded from their website. Completed applications must be emailed to RedSoxScholars@redsox.com by Friday, March 17, 2023. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Lidia Zayas at lzayas@redsox.com.
Boston Prep high school students have the opportunity to extend their learning through the summer enrichment programs that promote personal, academic and professional growth. All Boston Prep high school students are required to participate in a summer enrichment activity each summer. Summer opportunities are shared with high school students weekly, and high school students and their families can learn about these summer enrichment opportunities here which include youth employment opportunities and a variety of summer programs. If high school students or families have questions about summer enrichment, they can contact Ms. Fontes at fina.fontes@student.bostonprep.org.
12. Families with MassHealth
Families with MassHealth need to renew their coverage this year in order to maintain coverage. Coverage protections put in place during the pandemic will end soon, and MassHealth will return to standard annual eligibility renewal processes. MassHealth families please take the following steps:
Update contact information – make sure MassHealth has their most up-to-date address, phone number, and email so that they do not miss important information and notices about what else is needed.
Report household changes to make sure MassHealth knows about any changes in their household, like a new job, address, changes to income, disability status, or pregnancy.
More information is available on the MassHealth’s Redetermination website, and school leaders can help spread the word with this Redetermination flyer, poster, and toolkit.
