Strive Center for Autism
Brief Communication Survey
If you haven't already, please take a few minutes to complete a brief survey regarding the communication you receive from the Strive Center. We like to check in with parents about once per year on this topic to be sure that our newsletter and other means of communication are meeting your needs. The survey should only take about 5 minutes to complete and you can click here to complete it. Any caregivers who receive our communication are welcome to complete it; no limit to the number of people per family and the survey will be anonymous. Thanks for your help!
2024 Calendars Available
Our calendar for 2024 is finalized. Both calendars are shared below; please be sure you select the correct location, as they differ slightly in days we are closed in January and February. We will send home paper copies as well, and you can ask for an additional copy anytime.
VIP Day November 21st
We've got our last VIP Day of the year coming up on November 21st! Keep an eye out for the signup link. Any VIP in your child's life is welcome to attend - we ask that just one VIP per child attend, unless the VIP is a sibling under the age of 18, they will need an adult to accompany them. If you've never been to VIP Day, we offer morning and afternoon times coordinated with drop off and pick up, it takes about 30-45 minutes, and the VIP will get a tour of the center, a chance to have a snack and/or make a craft with the child, and a photo opportunity. We're happy to take a picture with your phone or we can take one and share it with you via email. We will plan four VIP Days for 2024, so don't worry if you can't make this one!
Outside Time
We are fortunate to have outdoor play spaces at both our centers, and we will make every effort to play outside daily! Our schedule has 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes in the afternoon scheduled for outdoor play time daily. Please send your child with a warm coat, mittens or gloves, and any other necessary accessories to play outside. When the snow comes, we will still go out, so please send boots. We can work with the children on changing into their boots and back into their shoes, and putting on your own coat and mittens daily is great practice!
We will not go out if it is actively raining, snowing more than just a light flurry, or if the playground is extremely wet from previous rain or snow melt. Otherwise, we typically go out as long as the temperature feels warmer than 20 degrees. If you have any concerns about outside time, please speak to your BCBA.
Peer play is a huge part of what we do every day!
Get to know Hannah!
We have several staff who started working with us this year. We'll feature one each week in the newsletter leading up to the end of the year.
Hannah started at the Strive Center in August of 2023. She has an Associate’s degree from Mott Community College and is pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology through Central Michigan University.
Hannah has three cats that she loves to spoil.
She enjoys traveling, being outside, being by the water and recently started rock climbing.
