The Good News November 19, 2023

In this weekend's Gospel we are told how important it is to use the gifts that God has given us. Whatever your talent is, Jesus is saying that it is important not to hide your talents from others. Instead, it is by going out into the world, by sharing our talents and using our skills to help others that we serve God.

At St. John XXII we believe that every child can shine. We recognise that we are all special in God’s eyes and have unique talents, which we nurture so that each of us has the opportunity to become the very best person that God intended us to be.

Students in the Monday/Wednesday Kindergarten class are welcome to come for picture retakes from 9-9:20 on Tuesday, November 21st.

St. John XXIII School Council is excited to announce that we are now partnering with Bonnie Doon Flowers Garden Center for our Poinsettia sale. They are happily growing some beautiful Red Poinsettias to help us raise money to support our wonderful school.
Each Poinsettia comes in a 6.5” foil covered pot and stands approximately 18” tall and 16” wide, making them excellent seasonal decorations and festive gifts.

Purchase of the Poinsettias can be made through your child's PowerSchool account, for the cost of $25 each.

The order form opens Monday, November 13, 2023 @ 10am.

The order form closes Thursday, November 30, 2023 @ noon.

Please let your friends and family know about this sale, and you can place their order through your child’s PowerSchool account. Instructions on how to place orders and pay fees in PowerSchool can be found at the bottom of each newsletter and on our website.

Orders must be picked up from the school on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 1-3pm and 6-8pm.

Winter Sale Coordinator

We are inviting all St. John XXIII students to enter their drawings in our Yearbook Cover Contest. One winner will be selected to be displayed on the front cover. Four other winners will be displayed on the back cover. The top five entries will be selected by a panel. The front cover will be voted on by the school population via Google form.

Submit art on:

1. 8.5 x11 sheet of white paper

2. Vertical orientation only

3. Colorful (bold, dramatic lines and colours. No pencil crayons or water-colour paints as they do not show up well when scanned. Suggested tools- markers, sharpies)

All entries must include:

1. Our theme - “Go Light Our World”

Entries due December 8th

Tips for a good entry:

1. Not a lot of white space - lots of colors ( including the background)

2. Use up the whole sheet of paper ( the bigger the better)

3. Choose bright and bold colours! Avoid using pencils and light colored crayons.

4. To make your cover POP, create a thick outline using a sharpie or marker

5. Covers will be scanned so artwork must be completely flat.
