Adams MS October

It is hard to believe that it is already October. We have been in the full swing with classes and activities for the last seven (7) weeks. We want to THANK all of our parents, students and staff for their support and hard work at Adams Middle School. Without all of you, this wouldn't be possible!

• Current Enrollment: 566
• 8th Grade: 297
• 7th Grade: 269
• Average Daily Attendance: 93.90%
• Average Total Daily Behavior Referrals: 4.85

• Students Explore Classes will be replaced with new classes on student schedules. Core classes will remain the same.
• Please check the Infinite Campus Parent Portal for current grades. If there are questions, these should go directly to the teacher.
• Missing work is one of the most common reasons for lower grades. If a student is not satisfied with their grades, this is a good place to start.
• Students are allowed to redo work and retake assessments to improve their grades.
• Summative assessments are important, as they are worth 70% of the student's overall grade. When low summative grades are earned, students should work with their teachers on a study plan and scheduling a retake.

Adams students who earn BARK cards have an opportunity to win a
"Lunch with a View". The winner is allowed to pick three (3) friends and they eat lunch on the roof of Adams Middle School. The winner also get a pizza of their choice from Domino's. Here are some of the lucky winners and friends.

Adams Middle School Students took the NWEA MAPS tests at the beginning of September. The MAPS test is a computerized adaptive assessment that measures your child's knowledge of reading and math. All students are asked the same number of questions, but the difficulty of each question is based on how well a student answers all the previous questions.

Below are the results from the Fall MAPS testing. The goal is to have all students become profiecient (Tier 1). Here is how the Tiers break down:

Tier 1 - 26-100% (Green)

Tier 2 - 10-25% (Yellow)

Tier 3 - 1-9% (Red

The goal for Adams this year is to have each grade and student be at 60% proficiency.

Breakfast: Breakfast is FREE for all students.

Lunch: Students/Adults will have to pay for all lunches this year. The Cost is $2.65 for students. If you are needing assistance, please complete a free and reduced application. These forms will be available through Parent Portal Staarting August 1st. If you have questions, or need a paper application, please contact The McKinley Education Center.

• Families and students are encouraged to use the Student/Parent Portal to monitor grades and progress during the school year.
• If there are concerns or questions, please contact the student's teacher. They have the best knowledge about the progress of your son/daughter in their classroom.
• All students have an opportunity to retake or complete missing assignments and assessments. Here is a link to the full NPPHS Grading & Reporting Document.
