District Construction Update
Week of May 29th
construction demolition continues
Our second week of construction continued to be dominated by demolition and prep work. Progress is being made on the roof, new flooring, new bathrooms, locker rooms showers, large gym floor, and the early stages of library renovations.
projects
roof replacement
The crew from Great Lakes Power Vac remained on site this week removing the old ballast (rock) from the building's roof. The crew from Higher Ground Roofing has mobilized this week in preparation of removing the old rubber membrane and replacing it with a new EPDM rubber membrane. The contractors have begun prepping the high roof over the large gym, as that will be the first roof to be replaced.

Locker Room Renovations
Demolition continued this week in the four locker room showers, as the crew from Zimmerman Plumbing out of Portage, WI began preparing the sites for new plumbing. The new shower rooms will feature individual shower stalls, which meet all state and federal health codes and laws.

Bathroom Additions
Demolition continues in the two areas of the building where new family style restrooms will be built. The addition of the new restrooms will bring the building up to code, as well as provide additional ADA compliant restrooms.

The old tile floors will be replaced with a new epoxy resin floor with colored paint chips.

library renovations
Renovations on our district's LMC space have begun. This week a crew from McCormick Electric were onsite to begin preparing a wall for new cabinetry and outlets. The new cabinets and countertop will be used to store and charge many different electronic devices which are housed in the LMC, including iPads, Chromebooks, drones, robots, and other devices.

large gym floor
While this project is technically not a part of our referendum, work continues on our new floor in the large gym. A crew from Stalker Sports Floors finished sanding and staining the floor. A second crew arrived this week to begin painting the lines and other items on the floor. The large gym will not be accessible to anyone through most of June.

access to building
Much of our building is still accessible to staff, students, and the public. We ask any visitors to the building to park in the front (south) parking lot, and use the Middle/High School entrance to come into the building. Currently, the Commons, the hallway behind the large gym, all locker rooms, the maintenance hallway, and the middle school hallway are off limits to the public. Yellow caution tape identifies the areas that are closed off.
General Contractor
We're proud to partner with Kraemer Bros. Construction as the school district's General Contractor, managing the selection of subcontractors, timelines, and project completion. The district previously worked with Kraemer Bros. in the construction of the new school in 1990-91, and the building addition in 1996. We proudly support a successful business based out of southwest Wisconsin (Plain, WI).
engineering, architecture, and design
The district has been working with FEH Design out of Dubuque, IA for the past year on the design, architecture, and engineering of our projects. Kevin and his team at FEH assisted the district through the pre-referendum process, facilitating several community meetings and a community survey. They stayed with us through the referendum, and continue to work with the district on any design or architectural changes as construction is happening.
boots on the ground
We are happy to support and partner with several Wisconsin subcontractors to complete work on our projects. Several of these subcontractors are from right here in southwest and western Wisconsin. Contractors and subcontractors on site this past week included:
Kraemer Bros. - Plain, WI
Great Lakes Power Vac - Pewaukee, WI
Higher Ground Roofing - Kewaskum, WI
Zimmerman Plumbing - Portage, WI
McCormick Electric - Gays Mills, WI
Winona Heating and Ventilation - La Crosse, WI
