The Wonder Word: Field LRC
August 20, 2018
Mrs. Schaab - Library Information Specialist
I'm excited to be starting my 14th year in District 64. This is my first year in the library, however, I've taught 4th and 5th grade at Field and I've been an Instructional Coach at Roosevelt School. I'm ready for the next chapter in my career to get kids excited about reading and learning.
Mrs. Bauer - Library Assistant
The library is excited to have Mrs. Bauer as a part of our LRC squad. Mrs. Bauer has been at Field School for 13 years. Her energy and passion for reading is going to be an outstanding addition to the Field School library. Mrs. Schaab and Mrs. Bauer used to work together in 5th grade and they are excited to be back together again!
Future Ready Librarian Framework
This summer, in addition to taking classes at the University of Illinois, I also attended the Future Ready Librarian Summit. In addition to the Common Core State Standards and supporting teachers, my focus in the library really is on keeping the focus on the learners and promoting literacy. The library is looking forward to helping students and staff reach their goals!!!
What's happening in the "NEW" LRC????
Construction
There has been some construction with some movement of some shelves, elimination of some old furniture, and the relocation of the interactive whiteboard. I believe the power was finally hooked up today, Monday!
As I'm sure you know, the waiting game is SO TOUGH as you wait to get into your teaching space, however, waiting for the construction to be finished has been just as bad! I'm excited to be "OPEN" soon!
To the Right....
As the shelves moved, the books had to move also. The entire library's collections has shifted and been organized. I've been amazed at all of the series I didn't realize that we owned. We will continue to make this as user friendly as possible and will be looking for feedback as the year goes on.
If you are interested in adding a series or book to the library's collection, please let me know!
Personal Touches
With all of the hard work with last year's walk a thon, you many notice the new furniture that was delivered last week! I believe we are waiting on a few more pieces, however, we are busy organizing an getting the furniture ready for very important patrons - students and staff! We are excited for the staff to be visiting for our first building meeting this Wednesday!
