Let's talk Locker Day! -August 8th-

Please add this event to your calendar. We are currently planning to have our "Locker Day" event on August 8th. This is a drop-in event from 1-2:30pm, with all families exiting the building by 3pm.


We will send out more details about this event as we get closer to the 8th.


If you can't make it, NO WORRIES! We will have plenty of staff on the first day of school to help you and your students.

TEAM School Supply Lists

We are doing supply lists differently this year with the goal being to eliminate unnecessary purchases. Each team will be responsible for creating a school supply list. We will hand them out on Locker Day, which is August 8th (1-3pm). Students will be getting their teams and advisor names on that day.


EVERY student at Hellstern will need the following:

  • earbuds
  • zipper binder w/strap ("Trapper-Keeper")
  • backpack with laptop protection area built in
  • paper & pencils
  • water bottle (labeled with student name)
  • PE shirt ($10 optional)


All other supplies needed will be on team lists. 7th grade students may have supplies needed for elective classes.

Meet our new HEROES!!

I could not be happier to introduce you to the newest additions in our Hero family. We just keep getting better every year and this year is no exception. It is going to be a GREAT YEAR!!! I can't wait for you all to meet these wonderful people in person!!

* 5 years teaching 1st and 3rd grades

* 2 years as Reading Recovery teacher

* Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction

* Reading Specialist and Dyslexia Endorsement

* I LOVE teaching students to read

Mrs. Kim VanVacter - 7th ELA

I taught at Monitor Elementary for 10 years (the majority of those years were 4th grade), and I have my National Board Certification in Early/Middle Childhood literacy.

Mrs. Alyssa Branch - 6th ELA

My name is Alyssa Branch, and I am so excited to be a Hellstern Hero. This will be my eighth year teaching but my first year working with middle school students. I look forward to meeting everyone soon!

Mrs. Jeanna Eggers - 6th Math

I have been teaching for 23 years. I was in Texas for my first 5 years and then moved to NWA. I have spent most of my time in 4th and 5th grade teaching math and literacy. For the last 6 years, I was the EAST Facilitator at Lee Elementary. I am looking forward to my new adventure in middle school at Hellstern.

Mr. Preston Cash - 7th Science & 7th Football

I am Preston Cash and I am very proud to be serving the community I grew up in. I am a 2015 graduate from Springdale Har-ber. I went on to earn a bachelors degree from Northeastern State University in 2015 on an athletic scholarship. After college I was on the fast track in the business world, traveling and eventually opening my own insurance agency, but something was missing. After getting back into coaching I soon realized I couldn't be happy until I could serve the students, athletes and the community that raised me.

Mrs. Sandra Vargas - Mrs. Hritz's classroom IA

My name is Sandra Vargas and I will be working as an assistant in Miss Hritz’s 1:10 IA classroom! This will be my first year working with adolescents. I have spent 16 years working in the Springdale School District with nine of those years working with Pre-K students. I’m so excited to take on this new role at Hellstern working with adolescents with special needs.
