Memorial Day, which is Monday, May 25th, is fast approaching. Therefore, we wanted to share THIS REVISED SCHEDULE for that week. Please note that the Zoom Remote Learning Sessions and Monday's Virtual Office Hours have been moved to Friday, May 29th.

The deadline for submitting work that week will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday instead of 11:00 a.m. as it typically is. These changes are for the week of Memorial Day only. We hope everyone enjoys the three-day weekend!

Two of our Miscoe's eCybermission club, coached by Mrs. Manser, teacher, and her son, Mr. Michael Manser, mechanical engineer, won at the state level competition! Talia Schwartzberg, Phoebe Burke, Brynn Di Anni, and Greyson Blalock were awarded FIRST PLACE for 6th grade for their project studying drinking water. Each student will receive a $1000 savings bond provided by eCybermission. Additionally, Patrick Connolly, Jack Olesyk, and Justin Fransen were awarded HONORABLE MENTION for 6th grade. This is the equivalent of 3rd place, and while there is no financial price, it is still an amazing accomplishment. The remainder of the students will be honored with certificates of appreciation for their participation.

This is the second year this program has been offered at Miscoe, and both years the coaches have been impressed by each of the students who participated. The eCybermission competition asks a lot of middle school students. Over the span of a couple months, the competition asks them to identify a problem that matters, use science or engineering to address their problem, and then communicate all of their work through a written submission package that is judged by DoD scientists and engineers. This requires working autonomously and thinking. Congratulations to our sixth graders and their coaches! And, thank you Mr. Manser, for this STEM outreach, which truly enriches the learning at Miscoe.

Please remind your child that assignments/zoom sessions for electives are not optional and students are required to submit the assignments. As always, if you have any concerns, please reach out to your child's teacher with any questions.
