Two New School Records! The Penns Valley Track & Field team has been having a remarkable season with many of our athletes setting new personal records and becoming district leaders. On top of these accomplishments, two of our athletes have set new school records. Micah Good set the new record for the 400 meter dash with a run of 50.92. The previous record was 51.30 set by D. Braucht in 1977. Miles Brooks shattered the old triple jump school record with a jump of 44'4". The old record of 43' was set by Fred Ironside and our very own Bruce Hettinger in 1989/81.
Congrats, Micah Good!
Congrats, Miles Brooks!
PVHS Biology classes experienced an immersive science experience when Penn State Professors, Dr. Tooker, Dr. Yip, and Robert Witkowski shared their research. In this collaborative session, the students set up an experimental design to determine the defense mechanism of plants' (goldenrod) ability to respond to a parasitic fly as it relates to the genetic fitness of the plant. The concepts learned can be applied to agriculture interactions between plants and insects. During the experience, students collected data that contributed to National Science Foundation funded research being conducted at Penn State. How cool is that!
