Dear Wildcats Families,

The classrooms are abuzz as we close in on IAR testing. This annual state testing is but one way we gauge how much our students have grown academically. Our daily assessments and in-house measures suggest students have made outstanding progress this year, and we are pleased with all they have done. Each day our scholars amaze us!

Daily during our announcements, influential African-Americans have been highlighted as we celebrate Black History Month. Teachers have done an excellent job weaving activities and learning experiences for students into the curriculum, which expand out knowledge of contributions from African-Americans. Here are Wharton we are embrace diversity and celebrate the accomplishments of all!

Creating a Well Rounded Educational Experience

Art Club

Students enjoy attending Art Club, so they can express their creativity in many ways. Art provides students a different lens from which to view life and share emotions.

Band

Our band program across SD 104 is growing, and our students are dedicated to becoming the best musicians they can be. Our students meet with Mr. T. for lessons on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Mariachi

On Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, students have the opportunity to learn the finer points of the art of mariachi music. Thanks to our wonderful instructors, students are becoming master musicians.

Fitness

Staying active is a wonderful outlet for our students to ensure a healthy lifestyle. On Thursday, students enjoyed a game of volleyball. Fitness Clubs offer students exposure to a variety of activities.

Tinkerworks

By creating and exploring, students are gaining hands on learning experiences to extend their learning in unique ways. These girls created this amazing robot and then presented their creation to the entire group.

Test dates are listed below,

March 8 ELA 1

March 9 Math 1

March 10 ELA 2

March 15 Math 2

March 16 Math 3

Be sure students come to school fully rested and ready to try their BEST! It is important for students to eat breakfast daily during testing, to support with energy and focus.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Spring conferences are scheduled for March 14 from 3:00-8:00. These will be held virtually or over the phone. Teachers will contact parents to schedule conference times.

Please note students will have school on this day, but they will be released at 1:50. Clubs will not take place on this day.
