Head Cheetah's Message
Dear Families,
Today is a bittersweet day. While we are sad to say “goodbye” to this amazing school year, we are extraordinarily proud of all that our young learners have accomplished. They have grown and learned so much this year! Good luck to our grade 3 students as they transition from Memorial School to Center School. We hope you come back to visit us from time to time!
We wish everyone a wonderful summer. May it be filled with sunshine, adventure, time with family & friends, and whatever activities leave you feeling refreshed and renewed! We can’t wait to greet all of you at the start of the 2022-23 school year.
Don’t forget to participate in the Summer Reading, Math, and Fitness challenges!
With appreciation for your partnership,
Joey & Andrea

2022 Summer Math Challenge
Dear Memorial Families,
As we near the end of the school year, we want to make you aware of the various opportunities the district will be offering over the summer months in order to support your learner’s continued engagement with mathematics. We recognize there are many summer activities for students to support your student’s needs. With participation in any of the activities, your child will be able to maintain their math skills over the summer months. Your support in this initiative is greatly appreciated.

Reflex Math (Fact Fluency Practice) for students currently in grades 2 & 3
Details about the opportunities and how your learner can participate can be found by clicking the various links. All Memorial students received a hard copy of the district’s Summer Math Packet this week. We will communicate a due date for completed summer activities in the fall
and plan for a fun celebration!
Please reach out to district math specialists, Lis Ellis (K-2) and Andrea Winiarski (3-5), with any questions.
We hope you have “sum” fun with math over the summer!
2022 Summer Reading Challenge
Memorial School is so excited to kick off our summer reading program!
As a school community we applaud all you have done to support your child’s engagement and learning this school year. As we approach the gifts of summer, and a well-deserved break, it will be critically important for your learner to continue to grow as an independent reader, and to recognize reading as one of the many positive life choices they can make.
In an effort to maintain students’ level of reading independence and prevent summer reading loss, we are encouraging all students to set summer reading goals.
For 3rd Graders:
This goal should include, but is not limited to participating in our “One School, One Book” initiative. Today your reader received a brand new copy of The Wild Robot Escapes. Students have listened to book one in the series in library class, and are now ready to continue the exciting adventure independently. The audiobook version is also available.
Please take note, with the book, readers have received a reading log and a project choice board. These will be asked for in the fall.
For K-2nd Graders
This week in library class, readers have discussed goals and have received their summer reading log. This log will be asked for in the fall and readers who turn it in will be invited to participate in a reading celebration. In addition, each student was gifted a book of their choice to kick off their summer reading adventure!
