This week although it was short was packed with many activities. Tuesday our fifth graders went on their first field trip, they traveled to Wheaton to participate in team building and an adventure course. This is one of the great opportunities that our PTO sponsors, thank you for your support and funding of field trips for all students. One of our district core values is perseverance and our fifth graders demonstrated their grit across many activities that day. Wednesday was our first early release our teachers revisited student led conferences which will be a part of our time in our upcoming conferences in early October. Please look for information in the coming weeks. Thursday our intermediate students attended the St. Charles East Homecoming parade. This is a long standing tradition and one great event for all in those grades. Students enjoyed the beautiful weather and excitement cheering on East High school.
Next week you will receive the fall iReady data reports, some students due to absences are still completing the testing, for this reason the report will be shared again once they are complete.
This fall we have a few opportunities for students after school. One is from an organization not directly affiliated with Lincoln but the meetings will take place at Lincoln on Mondays. Kindergarten Health information
Below is a letter from Wendy Landers our Certified School Nurse, reminding all kindergarten families of the records that need to be turned into school prior to the first day of school. You can bring these to Backpack Night on Thursday, 8/10 from 4-6PM, or the office any week day between 8:00am and 3:00pm. This is important to ensure your child is not excluded from school.
A Nursing Note from Miss Christy:
Welcome back Lincoln Leopards! This is a friendly reminder to turn in all required medical forms to the front office or mail them directly to the school (211 South 6th Avenue). Forms can also be emailed to christy.mathern@d303.org.
K: physical examination, immunizations, dental exam and vision exam
2: Dental exam
During this transition back to school, please remember that your child should be fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication. Your child must not vomit or have diarrhea for 24 hours without the use of medication. It is important that if your child is ill that they stay home. Some of our Leopards are lacking a healthy immune system and are susceptible to serious illness.
As your school nurse, I am happy to collaborate in treating asthma and implementing an asthma action plan. This also applies if your child tends to wheeze when they get ill and require albuterol. Here are the links to the asthma history form, medication consent, and asthma action plan. A healthy child is a child capable of learning!
I look forward to getting to know your child! I have more than 20 years of inpatient pediatric experience, so your child is in good hands! If you have any changes to your child’s medical or medication history please contact me with this update! I am available if you have any questions or concerns! I also have a variety of resources available.
Thank you for your time!!
