Grade Level and Department NEWS
Kindergarten:
- Many Holiday activities are scheduled. Santa photos December 10th $1 per photo You may order more than one.
- All sing Dec. 15th
- Polar Express PJ Day Dec. 15th
- Early release and class parties Dec. 17th.
- Please continue to master letter name's. There will be a Kindergarten competition before we leave for Christmas break.
- Sight words for next week are: mom, dad, this, my , and you.
First Grade:
The first grade sight word competition is scheduled for the week of December 13th -- Be sure your child is still practicing those words
Take-home books need to be read each night
Water bottles and an extra mask should be sent to school each day
Second Grade:
- Continue to read AR books and complete the reading log.
- Please remember that Student of the Month signs need to be returned to school by December 17th.
- All field trip money is due on Friday, December 10, 2021. No monies will be taken after this date.
- Please continue to work with students on blending sounds to read words. We will have a Second Grade word reading contest the last week before Christmas Break.
- Continue to practice Second Grade Sight Words.

LIBRARY: Kindergarten students will be having a book “boot camp” the month of December. We will be talking about proper library book care, how the library is organized, and what is expected during book checkout time. Kindergarteners will be able to borrow library books during library class checkout time when they return to school in January.
Tiger Troupe members: PTA program is on Tuesday night, December 7. Meet Mrs. Wanda in the library at 6:15. A repeat performance will be given on Wednesday afternoon. White shirts, dark pants/skirts are required attire for each performance. Next week will be the final Tiger Troupe practices at 7:30 am on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings in preparation for our Christmas program.
School Nurse:
- We will be conducting vision screenings on First and Second Grade students on December 9.

Parents WPS will be participating in the MCS Toys for Tots Drive. Currently we have a Toys donations box in our main lobby. You may send toys to help WPS help families within our community this Holiday Season. Monday 12/6 is our final day for collecting toys.
