An Exciting Week
Hello Phoenix families,
There is a lot going on at HSMC this week!
Tomorrow is our first PSSA meeting of the year. Please join us if you are able. The meeting will begin at 6:00 pm here on campus in TR5. We will also have a live stream of the meeting if you can join us virtually. We have a core group of parents that are volunteering to lead this wonderful group, please come to the meeting to show them your support and volunteer to help.
Today and Thursday, the Moorpark College Campus Police will visit our students to discuss safety protocols in case of an emergency. This important training increases our understanding of how to respond in the event of an emergency situation and how to stay safe.
Wednesday, our campus will be visited by a reporter from KCLU radio who will be doing a story about HSMC and all the wonderful advantages it offers current and potential students. Also on Wednesday, I will be participating in Moorpark College's interviews with the Aspen committee. Moorpark College is one of ten finalists for this year's Aspen prize for excellence.
Last week, the staff spent Tuesday talking about safety, instructional strategies, and how to continue to collaborate in order to maintain student success. Next staff meeting, we will discuss our latest state testing results.
Coming up, our 11th graders will be taking the PSAT on October 12th. Last year, we had two students who were recognized by the College Board because of their achievement on the test, a high score on the PSAT can open up opportunities for recognition that can be used in college and scholarship applications. Also coming up are our Halloween Trivia Night and some restaurant nights out fundraisers. For a full calendar of HSMC's scheduled events, click here.
Have a wonderful week, Phoenix families!
