How Can A Year Of Little Rain Bring Success?
In the near-by village of Labelmar, we trained a group of farmers on a farming method called Farming God's Way. Upon completion, the farmers applied what they learned. The new system was put to a test as Haiti received very little rain last year; devastating for the farmers who need the crops to feed their families. The newly trained farmers who utilized this system were the only ones in their village that had crops to harvest. The neighbors realized the difference and wanted to know why. Through this unfortunate dry season, Farming God's Way gained popularity. More than a theory, they saw with their own eyes that this system works. The word spread and our program exploded.
Since then, my agronomists have been very busy. We have successfully trained 307 farmers! And have plans for another 90 in the next few weeks. Our 4-8 week course includes training on biblical, managerial, and technical farming keys, with the goal of making their farming more sustainable with greater outputs. We provide meals for each training (no one can learn when they are hungry), tools (a hoe, a machete, and a pickax), and seeds (corn and bean) to plant a 1/2 acre plot of land. We also visit the farmers during growing season to answer questions and encourage them.
We are very excited that for the first time, the farmers are paying to attend the training ($.30 per session). This doesn't seem like much to us, but to these farmers who are struggling to feed their families, it is. Our logic is that if you invest into something, you will have a greater chance of owning it.
We are also setting up a credit system in which they can purchase tools, seeds, and additional training. They earn credits by attending the classes, using the methods we teach in their farms, planting and taking care of the trees we give them. This will give them incentive to apply the methods used in our training. A long-term goal is to monetarily reward farmers that implement the program fully.

And The Two Shall Become One
God loves answering our prayers! This time He answered in a way immeasurably more than I asked or imagined.
My hearts desire was to have a husband to minister with me and share life with me. It's hard to find someone while living in Haiti. As uncomfortable as it was, I began searching online dating sites. Rodney Harris and I started corresponding July, 2017. Our first face-to-face date was September 8, 2017, quickly followed by two more dates that weekend before I flew back to Haiti. We had an immediate connection.
Fast forward a few months...I came home from Haiti to see if this relationship would develop into more. Results...immeasurably more. Rod desired to see my life in Haiti before he could make long-term plans with me. He spent two weeks submersed in my Haitian life. His love for the Haitian people was rekindled (Rod spent 3 months in Haiti as as missionary in 1981). He worked alongside me helping in the gardens, participating in our farmer's training, and loving on my youth groups. One of my highlights was seeing Rod in his element of developing leaders. In two short meetings, Rod was able to coach me and my Haitian team to understand each other better and work together more effectively, with results that continue today.
September 8, 2018, exactly one year from our first date, Rod and I became husband and wife. Our wedding verse was Ephesians 3:21"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, to Him be the glory."
We purchased a home in Lakeville, MN and enjoy entertaining family and friends. We are ministering together at a local youth center and are seeking the Lord's face for what's next.
We spent the month of January in Haiti. It is our hope that Rod will be able to work his job from Haiti and join me there for 3-4 weeks at a time each quarter. We are leaving soon for another month long mission.

Ministering together 4 New Friends Accepted Jesus into their Hearts
Heard The Gospel, Accepted Jesus, Spending Eternity With Jesus
One More Celebrating With Jesus
My friend, Brenda, has a heart for feeding the hungry. During her trip to Haiti, we were visiting Haitian homes, sharing God's love and giving away food. We stopped at the house of one of my neighbors who was not a Christian. We loved on her and her 2 daughters. As they hand-washed their laundry, cleaning each item thoroughly , we told them how Jesus can wash us and make us clean again. After much discussion and reassurance, we rejoiced as she accepted the Lord.
A few weeks later we fully realized the urgency we felt that day. Our new Christian friend had died. Mourning turned into dancing as we realized she had the promise of eternal life. She left two young daughters and we were able to show God's love by giving them food and paying for their school. This is a great reminder to all of us to keep presenting the gospel of Jesus wherever we go. We never know what an impact it might have!
