Elementary Updates
What a busy month we had in October! Many great things happened in our building wrapping up the month with a week full of book fair, parent teacher conferences, and Halloween parties.
This fall's book fair was a huge success with total sales being just shy of $7000! This provides our school with around $3100 of Scholastic dollars to further establish the importance of reading.
Our rockstar teaching staff and supportive parents were able to achieve 97% attendance at this fall’s parent teacher conference. Also, our Title I staff held a focused daycare during conferences providing Foundational Literacy and Math skills for 63 students. This shows great commitment to student growth both at home and here at school. Thank you to all who attended!
Halloween weather allowed us to parade students through the gym and celebrate within classes. If you missed the parade you should be able to view it on Breckenridge Elementary Facebook page.
With colder temperatures please send your children with coats, hats, and gloves. We will continue to go outside for recess, until the temperature is below 10 degrees.

BES Fall Run Club 2021
Our Elementary Run Club had a great season. This club is for 3rd through 5th grade students. We had 44 boys and girls participate this year. During our six week season we worked on our pace, our breathing and getting faster each time out. The students have enjoyed meeting new friends and staying active. We enjoyed the beautiful weather that this Fall has brought and have decided to keep Run Club during the Fall season. We ended our season Thursday, October 21st with a 2 mile fun run. The students did a great job! Thank you to all who came and helped cheer on the runners.
We want to thank our volunteers for their time investing in our students after school. We also want to thank our school community for continuing to support our club. We are looking forward to another season next year. Good luck to our 5th graders who will be moving up to the middle school next year. You will be missed, but you have a great opportunity to run on the cross country team. Anyone who would like to volunteer next year to help out with this club, please contact Mrs. Emily Krenz at the elementary school. We would love to be able to have two teams next year. GO HUSKIES!

Sopes!
Sopes (pronounced soh-pez) are a thick corn tortilla-like masa cake made from masa harina, water, salt, and oil. They originated in central Mexico and act as plates for an abundance of toppings, like chicken, vegetables, and salsa. Enjoy the photos below!
DÃa de los Muertos
Mrs. Avina's 6th grade Spanish class celebrated by putting up a remembrance table (or ofrenda) and making papel picado ('punched' or 'perforated' paper). This traditional cut paper folk art is found throughout Mexico.

BOND UPDATE
Work continues on our elementary addition. The footings and foundation work is coming to a close. We currently are in a holding pattern as we wait for permitting and plans to be approved. The slower approval at the state level and wet fall has slowed progress at the elementary. We have also had issues with final permits and approvals at the high school gym. I have made contact with state legislators with the hopes of pushing the state licensing offices to take action. This year the elementary building is managing with only the use of B and C wing, but we are certainly at full capacity with specials on carts or in the cafeteria. We are excited for the addition of several early elementary and preschool classrooms.
Bids for Summer 2022 work on the baseball, softball, track, and the high school classrooms are in the final steps. Bids will be accepted over the next few weeks with plans that the board will look to approve these bids at our November regular board meeting. One project that is of note is our Science Room Coutryards. This project was inspired by Kya Horman and Katie Steinhaus through last year's Pitcher This Campaign through the United Way. Their Pitch will make this courtyard an outdoor classroom space as well as a designated "potty area" for Blue. Thank you Kya and Katie for your vision for this space. We look forward to seeing this space come to reality!
Please continue to check back each month to see what projects are in the works with our bond projects. We will also provide pictures and updates on our website, which you can visit by clicking HERE.
