EY on the World
Elinor's Newsletter Nov. '21 - Jan. '22
That is a parable of much of my news below. I plow and I plant seeds in this stormy world, motivated by the Lord's goal - the growth of His Kingdom and glory.
Teaching / Reaching / Encouraging
.....
Teaching Children
I do that through the quarterly issues of Great Commission Kids (GC Kids). It aims to encourage Christian Children to gain a broad knowledge of missions in today's world and gain a life-long vision to extend God's Kingdom world-wide however God provides for them to do that.
Over the past few years I have also helped disciple children through cooperating with Bible Visuals International. On November 19, BVI launched the book, Beautiful Feet Upon the Mountains. A fully illustrated, teachable version of the Bad Legs story. Five chapters of five illustrations each along with teacher's script and discussion questions. Yes, I'm "plugging" it. Kids learn best through story, and this one shows that God can do anything. Learn more, see the illustrations, and order if you'd like at
The smaller bound paperback "Home edition" will be ready about late February.Reaching / Encouraging around the world
I used this world map as the stationary background on purpose. Our walk with the Lord isn't about us. Rather it's about Him and his heart that the whole world will hear the Good News. Like the things below.
I love my constant contact with the Kimyal people. Lots of them. Mainly second or third generation from when I lived at Korupun. Ones who are now living in cities with internet and cell service. Hundreds have asked to be Facebook friends and frequently comment on things I post there. They also message to ask for prayer or to tell me news from the mountains.
Another joy is monthly voice-to-voice contact with special friends around the world. USA, Canada, South America, Eastern Europe, and sometimes other continents or areas. I love hearing what God is doing, praying with them about the sticky stuff, and later learning how God worked it out.
And sitting in my apartment with up to six young people and a baby, talking about the world-wide need for the knowledge of Christ - how could that not fill your soul? Once a month at Mission Chat these future missionaries talk about their present, their vision for the future, and about what God is doing around the world. Two of them have come since they were young teenagers and are now out of university getting experience in using now for the Lord the skills they will take to wherever God leads them later.
💥One member has already joined a mission organization and is in the stage of gathering a team to pray for and finance her future ministry as a Bible translator. Let me know if you want to know more about that.
All the above would put a bounce in my step if my steps could bounce. 😁
Running on Broken Legs: My Journey to Joy
I may have to send a special update to you before my next EY on the World (Feb-April 2022). I may be able to estimate a launch date by then. Maybe. Now it looks like Apr./May.
When I posted the front cover on Facebook, I got a message from a Kimyal man who said, “Love! You put my father on it. I am crying. He died and I don’t have a photo of him.” It was my turn to have tears in my eyes!
And Finally...
I recently turned 75. Two months after my 5th birthday, polio took over my body and I couldn't move or breathe. Doctors told my parents that I might not live.
My 75th birthday marked 70 years that experts doubted I would have. A wonderful life directed by my Maker, my life's Planner. Could there be anything more wonderful? No. These bonus years are great.
I am God, and there is none like me,
declaring the end from the beginning
saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,
and I will accomplish all my purpose,’" Isaiah 46:9-10
THINK ABOUT IT.
