Visitor Management System Pilot
Linden Middle School will be piloting a visitor management system, Verkada. This system is designed as a layer of security that will help to better identify an individual who enters our building and their purpose. This system uses enhanced technology that scans an individual's drivers license and screens guests against registered sex offender lists and various criminal databases.
When entering Linden Middle School, all guests will see a monitor (iPad) with instructions. Guests will answer a couple of questions, and then be asked to scan their drivers license, which is delivered to a third party database provider (Checkr) to search state and local sex offender registries and various criminal databases for matching records. This information is transferred to the building administrative assistant. Once approved, a badge will be printed, allowing the visitor to adhere the badge and enter the building.
Welcome New Director of Business Services, Kylie Rush
LCS would like to welcome Kylie Rush to the LCS family. Kylie has been hired as the new Director of Business Services, a position previously held by Pam Dickie who retired at the end of September. Kylie (LHS class of 2003) and her family live in the Linden community, and is excited to join LCS. Kylie received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Michigan State University, Eli Broad College of Business, in Accounting. Kylie spent time as a financial and statutory accountant with Dow Chemical. Most recently, Kylie was a legal assistant for Robert H. Bancroft, Attorney at Law, performing bookkeeping, invoicing, financial reconciliations, and other business services. Kylie has been an active member of our PALS group for the past few years and has been involved in numerous school/community activities.
Optional Chromebook Coverage
Linden Community Schools provides a Chromebook learning device to every 6th through 12th grade student for continued learning. Like textbooks and library books, students are responsible to take care of materials assigned to them.
The purchase window for optional Chromebook coverage is currently open. This $25 offering covers two (2) damage incidents. If you would like more information or are interested in signing up for this coverage, please see the links below. The coverage purchase window closes October 16th, 2023. Coverage may not be purchased after a damage incident occurs. Students may be fined for damage beyond normal wear and tear. Unpaid fines may result in loss of extra curricular activity privileges.
We are seeing families who have opted to buy their students a case for their device to help with incidents beyond normal wear and tear. Students are issued a Dell Chromebook 3100. Cases to fit this model can be easily found on sites like Amazon.com.
