Dear Page Hilltop Families:

We hope this finds you all enjoying the last couple weeks of summer vacation. We look forward to the return of all of our current students and families. We are also excited to welcome all of our new students and families to our Page Hilltop School community.

One of our keys to students' success is maintaining consistent lines of communication between home and school. One of our "communication tools" is the SMORES newsletter that you are currently reading. This newsletter will be emailed home, on a weekly basis, throughout the school year. We hope you enjoy reading it each week.

Please take a few minutes to check out the information listed below. We hope that it will help provide a smooth transition into the new school year.

September 14th -- 90-minute Early Release (Preschool-12)

All Page Hilltop students and families are invited to stop by for a building tour on either of the following days:

• Wednesday, August 24th between 9:30 - 11:30 am
• Thursday, August 25th between 3:00 - 5:00 pm

You do not need to sign up ahead of time. Just come to the Page Hilltop School entrance (top of the hill) at any time during those time periods.

You will be given a guided tour by some of our student leaders.

You will have the opportunity to meet both Principal Fred Deppe & Assistant Principal Matt Lutinski and ask any questions you may have.

We will have backpacks and school supplies available to anyone who may need some.

You will get to see Nemo and other fish in our awesome aquarium.

You may enjoy a delicious ice cream treat served up by our PH Concession Queen, Mrs. Reeves.

Tom Houle: Director of Food & Nutrition

Tom Graduated from Framingham State University with a BS in Food & Nutrition. Since then he has worked in the school nutrition field in several different capacities.

From Catering manager at Merrimack College to Director of Food & Nutrition at Ayer Shirley Regional School District (with a 2-year sales stint in food sales tucked in between), Tom has over 25 years of School Nutrition experience. Tom’s passion for what he does, serving the students of the Ayer Shirley District, the most appealing, nutritious, and delicious meal options possible is what keeps him so active and motivated. Tom and his team are always looking for the most innovative ways to prepare and serve the food for their customers in their district.

Tom is also a Past President of the School Nutrition Association of Massachusetts and has been an SNA member for 20+ years serving on the executive board and many committees throughout the years. He served 10 years as the chairman and health inspector for his local board of health and three years as a selectman. He also owned and operated his own restaurant and catering business prior to becoming a Schools Nutrition Director, from which he brought a great deal of practical experience to the school side of food operations.

Mrs. Perwak, Mrs. Tucker, and Mrs. Campaner along with ACP campers took turns watering the vegetable and flowers throughout the summer. Radishes, tomatoes, cucumbers, and strawberries were enjoyed by the staff.

We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a live Open House event again this year. We will also be bringing back our "Family Welcome Back Picnic" to start the evening's festivities.

Mark your calendar for the evening of Wednesday, September 28th! More details will be sent home when students return to school.

The worldwide Dance for Kindness will return live on Sunday, November 13th! We are so excited about the return of this awesome community event. Watch for more information coming out when we return to school.

We would like to invite our 4th and 5th grade students to consider joining our Panther Power Student Leadership Team. This group will be involved in a variety of school and community service projects. Information / Application packets will be sent home in early September.
