EAGLE EDITION

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. We live in an amazing country that values family and friends so highly, that so many of our organizations are able to give time off including federal holidays to honor family and community. We really do have so much to be thankful for as Americans. Here is to hoping our clients are refreshed, as the first annual Freedom Finals are coming soon. Students are well aware that mastery in our 5Cs classes via each assessment is a chance at $50.00 per class! December is not just academic mastery time; it is also meant for team building and fun. We have planned an Eagle night, to take in the Victoria Park neighborhood season of lights! Additionally, we have our first annual Freedom Spirit week scheduled for December 11th-15th. Thank you so much for your support as we are coming to the end of our first semester. It is an honor to serve you and your children, our clients, in pursuit of their dreams.

We had another fantastic month at The Freedom Institute of Collier County, with lots of great news to share! One of our students, Mokayla, just started a new internship at Kelleher Law Firm, so congratulations to her! Also, we're excited to announce that The Freedom Institute of Collier County is now an Accuplacer site. This means our students can take the assessment for dual enrollment entrance into Florida SouthWestern State College. After giving our first test session, we're thrilled to say that Lyla, Frank, Anthony, Thomas T, Thomas N, Ava Y, Clare, and Julia are all eligible to enroll in free college courses. We can now say that 32% of our students/clients can take college classes - something not many high school programs can boast about!

The Freedom Institute of Collier County

November has been a busy and exciting month and I am thankful every day to get to work with such an amazing group of high schoolers. The growth I have observed in each one of them since August is truly remarkable.

For Career, every student at Freedom has participated in a mock interview process. Each student submitted a reflection, and then followed up with his/her success coach to discuss the experience further, and to modify their resume to an improved version. We are so proud of our Eagles and cannot wait to see their final PowerPoint presentations during finals week!

For ELA, we wrapped up our novel study and literature circle with 1984 and have been concentrating on other activities such as: ELA Accuplacer study guides and assessments, FSW dual enrollment application process, e-mail etiquette, literary devices, civics documents and SOAPStone graphic organizers, 7 Habits journaling, and New Year's resolutions writing activities.

For Consumerism, we wrapped up Chapters 1-6 with Dave Ramsey's Financial Literacy course for semester 1. Topics included: Introduction to Personal Finance, Budgeting Basics, Saving Money, Credit and Debt, Consumer Awareness, and Career Readiness.

In Civics, we continue to learn more about our Constitution and the foundation our country was built on. Students will showcase their knowledge during our upcoming short answer essays for their final exam.

In Math, students working on geometry continued to gain knowledge about how to write a proof.

For algebra, students were exposed to slope, graphing, and slope intercept form.

We are excited for students to "show what they know" during their mastery exams, and then move forward with new knowledge and skills in 2024!

Freedom has limited enrollment availability for this spring semester Building tours are still available and we would love to show you around our Freedom facility. We had a great time at our first fundraiser event and outing! Thank you to all of our families who attended Fat Katz for dinner and the Florida Everblades hockey game!

Thank you to Mr. Poteet for hosting us in Marco Island for the day! We learned so much and had a great time!

We hosted our "Freedom Friendsgiving" on Thursday, November 16th before Thanksgiving Break! We celebrated friendship and a great year so far at Freedom! Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed. We had a great time!

Thank you to Kelleher Law of Naples for hosting Mokayla as one of your interns! She is already learning so much and we are so proud of her. We appreciate you exposing her to the legal field at such an early age!
