Math Department
We are preparing for our math SOL! Please check-in with your child and ask what topics are being reviewed in class. Be prepared for 5-10 math problems to be assigned for homework as well. There are many math websites where your child can do more practice. Below is a list of useful places to go for review and/or extra practice to clear up any misunderstandings of a concept. Some of the sites have review for science and English as well.

Family Tech Talk: Free Internet Safety Session for LMS Parents
Technology is changing fast, and many of us are struggling to stay one step ahead of our kids and learn everything we can about being online. (Not an easy task when most of them know more about it than we do!)
Join LMS PTO for a virtual Family Tech Talk presentation with an Internet safety expert from Trend Micro, who will share the latest trends, give advice on how to help your child use the Internet responsibly, and answer parent questions in a Q&A session. The Zoom event will be on Tuesday, May 10 at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Unfortunately, the recorded version of the High School Moving Up Night is not working. Parents who missed the virtual event can access the information and course descriptions below. Counselors will return to LMS on Friday, April 29 to meet with any remaining students who have not yet selected their courses for next year. Please be sure your 8th graders have returned their course selection sheets to Mr. Carr or Mrs. James before Friday, April 29. We will pass them along to the EC Glass counselors at that time.

Reminders
Expunge Forms
Students who have been enrolled in High School Credit Courses, including Spanish, French, Earth Science, Algebra I or Algebra II will be receiving EXPUNGE forms from their teachers to bring home for a parent signature. If you choose to to have the year grade expunged, it will be completely erased from their transcript as if they never took the course. They will need to retake the course at EC Glass if they need that credit. Any SOL that is passed will be "held" in those courses until a credit is earned. These forms (one for each high school credit class) will need to be signed by a parent or guardian and returned to LMS before June 30.
College Day
Eighth grade students will participate in College Day and a trip to University of Lynchburg on Tuesday, May 24. Be on the lookout for permission slips to come home in the next few weeks.
