Tiger Newsletter 1/12/23
Greetings Tiger Parents
Parents please be reminded that school starts promptly at 7:55 and our Tardy bell rings at 8:00. It is important that you make sure that your child arrives to school on time to ensure that they are not missing any instructional time. Also parents not only is it important that our students arrive to school on time but that they are present at school daily so they can receive their maximum amount of instructional time. Parents it is important that we maintain current contact information for each of our students. With that being said please make sure that if phone numbers or addresses have changed that you communicate those changes to the front office so that we can update the information in PowerSchool which will allow us to be able to maintain communication with you concerning your child and activities that are taking place at Williamston Primary. As always we thank you for all you do for Williamston Primary School.
Tiger Pride,
Mr. Howard

Resource:
Art: Our awesome little artists have learned about the famous artist Pablo Picasso this week! We talked about the difference between Realistic and Abstract artwork and the art movement Picasso co-founded, Cubism. Students then created their own Realistic or Abstract Snowman!
Music: Students continue to study musical instruments. Music games such as “Instrument Bingo” and flashcards help students to determine tone color, and names of instruments and instrument families. Students are learning songs in anticipation of exciting activities next month. American and Australian folk tunes are being reviewed. Learning about Chinese culture and songs will prepare students for special guests coming in February!
Library: Kindergarten classes have started officially checking out their own library books! They will get to choose one book each week. They are asked to keep the book in their book bag when they are not using it. This way they will have it each day at school. On their library day, they bring their book with them to trade for a new one. If they forget their book on their day, they can come in the morning when they remember. Encourage them to practice, and read with them if you can!
From the Nurse's Desk
We have been seeing fewer students with flu-like symptoms since the return of school following Christmas break but we must remain proactive in the prevention of spreading germs and illnesses.
Please remember that students should be 24 hours fever free without the use of fever reducing medications such as Tylenol or Motrin before returning to school following an illness. Also, a child with diarrhea and/or vomiting should stay at home and return to school only after being symptom-free for 24 hours.
A sick child cannot learn effectively and is unable to participate in classes in a meaningful way. Keeping a sick child home prevents the spread of illness in the school community and allows the child an opportunity to rest and recover.
