Journeying in Hope and Love: Building a Culture of Accompaniment
The Road to Emmaus
As they approached the village to which they were going,
he gave the impression that he was going on farther.
But they urged him, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.”
So he went in to stay with them.
And it happened that, while he was with them at table,
he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them.
With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him,
but he vanished from their sight.
Then they said to each other, “Were not our hearts burning [within us]
while he spoke to us on the way and opened the scriptures to us?”
Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way
and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.

Dear St. Clare School Families,
Happy Valentine's Day! In addition to Valentine's, we will be celebrating Lunar New Year at Morning Assembly. Please join us!
Some classrooms will be celebrating Valentine's Day. Your teachers and room reps should have communicated details this past week.
Although we are still impacted by COVID-19, we are starting to plan events that will allow us to gather in person. Our families have been signing up to bring donuts to provide fellowship after our Family Masses on Sundays. Thank you to you! Our community has come to look forward to it. It is also a chance to catch up with one another!
Stay tuned as we plan for field trips, Jog-a-Thon, and Multicultural Dinner. One of the things we are planning for our St. Clare 7th and 8th graders is a spring dance. Slowly but surely, we want to bring back events that celebrate our students and families. In addition, our second graders are preparing to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist for the first time!
Lent is around the corner--we hope to be able to offer the OxFam and CRS's Hunger Banquet experience for our middle schoolers along with a Day of Service for our families. Our fifth and sixth graders have also been playing basketball against schools in our central division. Thank you to our coaches and Ms. Valerye for providing this opportunity. We hope that more will participate in volleyball starting in March.
If you haven't already completed your volunteer requirements, please reach out to Ms. McKinnon to make sure you are ready to volunteer at a moment's notice. We could always use your extra eyes during yard duty supervision. Don't delay in completing them--it can get confusing and some pieces of the requirements could take time.
In addition, if you have not yet completed FACTS Grant & Aid applications, please do so now so that we can begin to review them and notify recipients.
Once again, I'd like to ask you to consider giving towards CleanAir4StClare so that we can begin to plan and timeline the upgrades for our elementary building. We are depending on your participation to make this happen.
Soon, you will be asked, as shareholders to participate in providing feedback to assess our program at St. Clare. We hope that you will willingly participate, taking seriously our collective commitment to make St. Clare the best little school there ever was. I hope that you have as much pride as I do to be part of this amazing community of generous and caring individuals working to fulfill our mission.
I look forward to seeing you at masses and I am hoping to see many of you on March 5th for Breakfast@Clare's and to Journey Through our school. Thank you to Kristi & Bill Britt and Kevin & Marta Farmer for putting together Breakfast@Clare's and to our teachers, Room Reps, PTG and our office staff for our Walkthrough Open House.
Let's celebrate all the good that happens in our community daily.
Peace and blessings,
Mrs. Cecile Mantecon, Principal
Our goal is that 100% of our families participate!
We thank our families who have donated. Most of our gifts have come from Friends of St. Clare. No matter the amount that your family is able to contribute, your engagement in our efforts to raise funds to complete this project signifies your partnership and commitment. I thank you in advance to consider a donation as soon as possible!
Donations are tax deductible and eligible for matching. Please send a check in any amount to the School ℅ CleanAir4StClare or visit https://www.stclare.school/cleanair4stclare to make a donation.
2021-22 School Calendar
Below, you will find the Calendar Grid for the school year. Some find this difficult to navigate, so I’ve created the Calendar Highlights document which I hope will make it a bit easier for you to consume.
Some changes since the end of the school year: we added September 20th as a NO SCHOOL DAY and our School Year will end a day earlier. The original calendar had us attending 183 days of school, knowing that we had three days over the required 180 days. We are keeping the 181 days in the event we have to close for an emergency due to poor air quality.
Other options to view the calendar include a Google calendar synched to ParentSquare, or subscribing to the St. Clare School Public Calendar below:
