Happy Sunday, Pride!

I'd like to take just a moment to provide our families some updates as we're working diligently to prepare for the start of the 2021 - 2022 school year.

Opening Plan:

• We're preparing for a "typical" start and school year, unless circumstances dictate a change
• Masks will continue to be optional - Opt-Out form required
  
• Parents and visitors will be welcomed back into our building
  
• We are offering our 100% online virtual option for the 21 - 22 school year (same program as last year)

School Hours:

• School-Wide Start Time (K - 10th Grade): 8:00 am (arrival begins at 7:30 am)
• Elementary Dismissal (who do not have older siblings): 2:40 pm - 2:55 pm
• Middle and High Dismissal (including the younger siblings): 3:00 pm - 3:20 pm
• Friday Dismissals: 12:10 pm (elementary) / 12:30 pm (middle and high school)

Pride (formerly Lions' Den):

• Pride (formerly Lions' Den) will be returning and revamped for the 2021 - 2022 school year
• Before school drop-off begins at 6:30 am (for all Pride students K - 10)
• After School Program runs until 6:00 pm (for students K - 8)

Virtual Academy

Class Rosters

• Teacher assignments and class schedules will be mailed by August 4th (& made available via the parent portal).
• If you have moved recently please check with Ms. Robinson at the front office to ensure it’s being sent to the correct address.

Website/Mobile App:

We are in the process of overhauling our website and app to a new platform. We will continue to use our website for a few more weeks in a limited capacity. Our goal is that we unveil the new site and mobile app to our families on Sunday, August 8th. You'll find that our new website and app will contain all up-to-date information for our separate schools: elementary school, middle school, and high school.

School Lunches:

We are excited that Ms. Kelly Burns will be joining Riverwalk Academy as our school lunch coordinator. This year, Golden Corral will be supplying Riverwalk Academy students with hot lunches (M - Th). More information about school lunches will be shared closer to the start of the school year.

Welcome to Riverwalk Academy:

We cannot wait for you all to meet the new staff who will be joining us this year. Each new teacher is bringing with them content expertise and an inherent passion for igniting innovation through student inquiry. We'll be sharing profiles over the next week via Facebook of our new staff, however, I did want to introduce you all to two talented and passionate educators who are bringing their talents to Riverwalk Academy.

Parents/Guardians, We would like to invite you and your students to attend our Meet The Teacher event. The event will be held on Monday, August 9th from 12:00 pm-3:00 pm at the Riverwalk Academy campus. All Kindergarten through 6th-grade families are welcome. We also encourage any new 7th-10 graders and families to come out as well.

For all rising 11th graders:

• Orientation is August 16th at York Tech.
• The time has not yet been set but we will send that information out closer to the date of the event.
• During the event, students can meet the teachers, see the classrooms, and ask any questions they may still have. It also is a great time for those taking college courses to find where their classrooms are located as well as explore the Student Life Center.
• Pertinent Info: Classes begin on August 18th

Parents, an email with more information will be sent out in the beginning of August along with a supplies list in time for you to take advantage of Tax-Free Weekend on August 6th.

You can purchase all types of things including computers, clothes, school supplies, and a variety of other items free of sales tax during South Carolina’s annual 72-hour Sales Tax Holiday.

The 2021 tax free weekend takes place August 6th-8th.
