Fisher Family Update
December 22, 2023

Dear Fisher Families,
This week before vacation certainly got off to an interesting start! The power went off around 10am Monday morning and we were immediately transported to the 18th Century! However, after the initial surprise, staff and students resumed their usual routines and schedules. We had a great day! Students completed assignments and navigated the school using natural light through the windows or with the use of a flashlight. In fact, the students were a little disappointed to see the lights back on Tuesday morning. Monday was a testament to the wonderful and caring communities, Fisher School and the Town of Walpole, we are a part of. Your student’s teacher quickly pivoted and embraced this challenge as a unique opportunity. Classroom read alouds went a little longer than usual. Board games, puzzles and playing cards were used as instructional tools and/or recess activities. Teachers and staff met new students as they monitored the hallways, assisting students however necessary. Further supporting all of us were members of the Walpole Police and Fire Department that stayed throughout the day, helping with their flashlights and a reassuring presence. From the Central Office, Superintendent Dr. Gough provided me with constant updates and check ins throughout the day. Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Bill Hahn walked the hallways of Fisher all day, checking in with teachers and students. Members of the Walpole DPW arrived with extra flashlights and helped to get our generator going. What a team you have working for your student behind the scenes! I am very grateful to all those that helped us out and especially proud of all our educators and students who consistently rise to the occasion and demonstrate our core values of cooperation and integrity. We are all very lucky to live and/or work in Walpole and at Fisher School!
On behalf of all the teachers and staff of Fisher School, we wish you a very happy and healthy holiday and hope that you enjoy the vacation week.
We look forward to seeing you all again in 2024!
Take care,
Brian
