STUCO Door Decorating Contest
To celebrate Black History Month this February, the OMS Student Council organized a school-wide door decorating contest to honor individuals, groups, and organizations who have helped pave the way for equality and diversity in America. Each homeroom was assigned an individual/group and a brief summary of their accomplishments/ achievements. Using the information provided, and any additional research students wish to complete, homerooms planned out a design for their door. All classrooms and staff rooms/offices were encouraged to participate. Doors were judged on the criteria of creativity, neatness, and historical information provided. All designs went up on the classroom doors on Friday, February 2nd and the winners were announced on Monday, February 5th.
The winning doors were...
Grade 6 - Ms. M. Donovan's homeroom
Grade 7 - Ms. Santiago's homeroom
Grade 8 - Ms. Bailey's homeroom
Staff door (no homeroom) - Main Office
Check out pictures of the winning doors below along with the students who contributed to the design and creation of the doors!
Grade 6 - Ms. Donovan's homeroom and their door of Martin Luther King, Jr.
Each puzzle piece includes a quotation and the designs at the top of the door include historical information.
Grade 7 - Ms. Santiago's homeroom and their door of Pirri Thomas
Each hand-drawn poster included hand-written historical information about Pirri Thomas.
Grade 8 - Ms. Bailey's homeroom and their door of Muhammad Ali.
Historical information can be found with each of the boxing gloves and the boxing ring students created was three dimensional!

Safety Drills
We held a lockdown drill in coordination with our School Resource Officer and Stoughton PD on February 7th. A lockdown would be called in the event there was an immediate threat to the building. Drills allow us to practice our response in the building. For today's drill, staff and students practiced their initial reaction to an emergency. They were provided with a fake scenario and teachers discussed response options with the class based on the information given. Students and staff did a great job during this drill.
As part of our district's school safety plan, we conduct safety drills throughout the school year. More information regarding the district's approach to school safety can be found below.
