CSD Top 3
Your monthly school district newsletter
Thursday, Nov. 3
Dear Canby Families,
It seems the fall weather has finally caught up with us. That means here at Canby School District, we’re just a little bit chillier as we think about how to create a vibrant and engaged learning community dedicated to growth for all!
Now, I hope you enjoy November’s CSD Top 3, those three things we think you’d like to know with a little bit about an feedback opportunity, our holiday drive, and some winter weather preparation, plus the monthly lunch menu. Happy reading!
Teaching & Learning Department Seeks Your Input
This fall, schools across Oregon have an exciting opportunity to do some focused planning on school improvement. The goal is to create an updated 4-year continuous improvement plan for the Canby School District, integrating six federal and state initiatives from four funding sources. To create a plan that truly reflects the needs of our community, we are seeking your input through a feedback form and/or an in-person session. Your voice and answers to questions will help inform the development of our district’s plan.
The following feedback form has questions focused on how we can improve outcomes and learning conditions for all students and staff in our district. Thank you for taking the time to share from your family’s perspective and experience.
In addition, we invite you to participate in a structured in-person session Nov. 16 at 5 p.m. in the Ackerman Library (English) or Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. in the Baker Prairie Library (Spanish). There, you’ll have the opportunity to answer questions on certain educational topics. Please mark your calendars!
For more information on the development of this plan, please feel free to contact Canby School District’s Teaching and Learning department via email at kasey.ellis@canby.k12.or.us.
Holiday Drive
The Canby School District Coin & Toy Drive has begun and will run through Dec. 2. During this event, we will be collecting spare change and new unwrapped toys at each school to support the Kiwanis Canby Community Food & Toy Drive, an event that has been serving Canby families for more than 60 years. Note that this year, Kiwanis will not collect food as in years’ past but coin funds will go toward food gift cards for families. Applications for assistance are available at each school.
Winter Weather Prep
Please subscribe to Canby School District on FlashAlert.
As the temperatures begin getting colder, it’s almost time to start preparing for winter weather and the snow bus routes, school delays, or closures that can come along with it.
When inclement weather strikes, the district will make decisions about school as early as possible – sometimes even the night before, but our goal is by no later than about 5:45 a.m. on the day of the weather event. The message will go out via FlashAlert and will then be reported on most news websites and TV stations.
To make sure you’re set to receive the information, again, please subscribe to Canby School District on FlashAlert. Now is also a good time to update your text preferences online by listing your phone number.
For more information, please see our inclement weather page.
What's for Lunch?
Check out the new monthly meal menus here. If you have not yet applied for free school meals, consider doing so today either online or using a paper application.
Please note that menus are subject to change.
