The Riebli Record
John B. Riebli Elementary- March 4, 2023
A message from Mrs. Todd
The Riebli Record is a day late because I keep staring at the screen. What do I write about the events of this week? As I shared with the staff, my heart is so heavy. I am at a lost for words, but have shred plenty of tears over the events of the week.
Please, hug your kids! Cuddle with them! Check in on how they are feeliing. Even if you have blocked them from hearing about the Montgomery incident, they may feel your emotions. Remind them they are loved by so many people. As I shared a few weeks ago, I know how many students are struggling with loss, academic, family issues, peers and more. We MUST partner in this work to make sure every student is cared for. Between parents, grandparents, family, friends, teachers, staff, and myself, we can do this!!!! That is why is takes a village.
Our counselors may be out next week, support Montgomery. However, if your student is in need of support, we will make it happen. Please contact Mr. Cooper or myself.
There is also support in the community:
Sonoma County Behavioral Health - Emergency Mental Health Hotline: 800-746-8181 - 24 hour counseling and mental health support line that works with families who are experiencing emotional distress.
Sonoma County NAMI - 800-960-6264 - Available 24 hours for mental health support and referral
As a second generation Montgomery Alumni, please keep their students and staff in your thoughts. Monday is going to be hard day for all.
Enjoy this rainy weekend! It will allow for extra cuddle time!
XO,
Emily
Hello Riebli Family,
We are selling Charleston Wrap! We need YOUR help! To reach our goals and make this fundraiser a success, we need everyone to do their part. This year we are doing Charleston Wrap, an online store of wrapping paper, gifts, kitchen tools, and much more! The funds raised will support our fourth grade class’s trip to Coloma. Luckily, it's super easy! Attached to this message, you'll find a flier with detailed instructions about how you can register online and supportmour school. We appreciate all of your support and encourage you to spread the word to your friends & family, near and far! The more people who shop, the more money we can raise for our 4th Grade Coloma trip!
Our school code is 21171
Thank you for your help!

Traffic
Hi Riebli families,
With the crazy weather and such, traffic is difficult. We need all adults to help us keep everyone safe.
1. Grades 1-6 can be dropped off at 8am. WE DO NOT PROMISE SUPERVISION BEFORE THAT TIME.
2. Please do not drop off in the back. THERE IS NO SUPERVISION IN THE BACK WING AND STUDENTS SHOULD NOT BE BACK THERE BEFORE SCHOOL.
3. Do not leave your car if you are not in a parking space.
4. Move forward when you can.
Grades TK/K info:
Students can be dropped off at 8:10.
If you want to stay and watch the kids, park in a spot. DO NOT PARK ALONG the curb.
Also, please put the cell phones down. I notice lots of you on phones, not paying attention to moving forward or other cars.
Thanks
Illness reminder
If your child is out sick or, if they are sent home sick, we require a negative COVID test before they can return. Results should be sent to the Lisa Greco, lgreco@mwusd.org. If you do not have access to a test, we are more than happy to provide one for the parent to administer, upon request.
Cell phone and smart watch reminder!
Dear Parents,
Over the past year or so, we've had several cases of students using communication devices during school hours. They may be used outside school hours. Cell phones and smart watches are allowed at school, but may not be used to contact others, including parents. It is possible that you, or your child was unaware of this policy. If your child needs to contact you, they can come to the office, if you need to get a message to them, please call or email the office. I'm attaching the Mark West School District policy on personal devices for your reference. If you have any questions, please contact me.
"Students may bring personal technology, including computers, smart phones, network access devices, or other electronic signaling devices to school provided that such technology is used for instructional purposes. Students shall abide by the instructions provided by teachers and other school staff in the use of such personal technologies. Access to the Internet or other District communication systems from personal technology is limited to wireless access points on the school campuses or other access devices away from school. Access to the Internet or other District communication systems from personal technology is not available via hardwire connections."
