This week...
My personal highlight this week has undoubtedly got to be our whole school celebration of Mass at our Church on Wednesday! See below for photos, and head to our Twitter account for a lovely video!
With our current focus virtue of faith, it's been inspiring to see our children, staff and families pulling together and putting their faith our vision for St Joseph's. It is the second week of our new classes, and we can't believe how well the children have adapted. It's like we've been in this format forever! Special mention goes to our Year 2s and Receptions, who have been super St Joseph's role models to the younger children now sharing classes with them.
Thank you for helping us to
Live, love and learn with the Lord.
Mrs Ronicle
Whole School Mass
On Wednesday, we journeyed over to Church with our whole school to celebrate a beautiful Mass! We took our preschoolers with us and for some of them, it was the first time they'd been to a Church - what a precious experience! We felt privileged to have been part of it.
Information Evening - Year 4
There will be an information evening for parents on Thursday 1st February, 3:30-4pm about the Multiplication Tables Check that Year 4 will take in June 2024.
The event will give information about how to support your child at home with preparation for the check by practising times tables and recalling them up to 12 x 12 at speed using technology.
The session, with Miss Pitchers and Mrs Hough, will give practical advice and guidance.
All Year 4 parents/carers are welcome to attend!
Diamond Award!
Huge congratulations to our latest Diamond Award winner! This superstar showed such kindness and compassion towards one of our preschool children in Mass on Wednesday! Well done!
Free pre-loved clothing!
Our Friends of St Joseph's are launching a new initiative!
In order to save our planet (and save a few pennies for our families!), FoSJ are offering a service where they can source pre-loved coats, school shoes, uniform and PE kit for any families who are in need of some.
This is an anonymous service. If you would like any of these items for your child/ren, please contact me (Mrs R) or the office with the gender and size of items required. Your name will NOT be passed on, and we will get the items to you discreetly.
Attendance Update
We love having our children in school with us and value each minute we are able to help them grow academically, pastorally, spiritually and socially. When they are not in school, we really miss those opportunities! We are hoping that, together with our families, we will be able to improve our school attendance, so that we can help our children to flourish.
Whole School Attendance this week: 91.01%
This means our school has lost 176 hours of children's learning this week alone!
We are currently below National average (94.3%)
Congratulations to St Patrick's for having the best attendance this week!
You will be given an extra 5 minutes of playtime on Monday!
A reminder to parents and carers: School attendance directly affects your child’s academic success and relationships with their classmates.
Our focus prayer
This is our current focus prayer for our daily worship. We thought you might like to say this prayer at home as a family, perhaps before your journey to school each day!
A message from our Academy Council...
The Academy Council and school community would like to thank Ms Jenny Pinder for her 8 years of service as a parent governor. We are most grateful for the service, time and dedication she has shown to the staff, pupils and the role of governance. As she finishes her second term of service, we wish her and her family all the best for the future!
Information about this parent governor position has now been circulated and the AC would encourage everyone who is interested to consider applying for this vacancy. Please do contact the Chair – Deborah ( cofg@stjosephstadcaster.org) if you want an informal chat about this strategic role.
This week, we have been learning...
St Nicholas (Nursery)
St Francis (Preschool/Reception)
St Bernadette (Y1/Y2)
In Writing, we've been coming to the end of our focus on 'The Way Back Home' by Oliver Jeffers. We made communication devices with cups and string and acted out a conversation between the boy and the alien.
St Patrick (Y3/Y4)
This week, we have been orienteering at Burton Salmon Primary School. We worked hard in our groups to find the clues and solve the puzzles. We really had to draw upon our perseverance, determination and communication skills. We had a great afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed this interactive style of learning!
St Therese (Y5/Y6)
