Sonic Sponsors
It doesn't take much to make a teacher's day, and one of the easiest ways to do that is treating them to a Sonic drink! If you would like to provide Sonic drinks for our teachers (we get them on Fridays) please reach out to Mrs. Burns (tburns@blairoaks.org) for further details. Drinks can be donated on behalf of an individual, an organization/business, or even anonymously if that is preferred.
Cheerfair Information - Tonight!
Game: Students that signed up will preform with the cheerleaders at half-time of the varsity football game on Friday, September 29th, as the Falcons take on Topeka Seaman Vikings. The game starts at 7:00 p.m. An announcement will be made for the girls & boys to meet the cheerleaders on the score-board side of track prior to half-time. All participants are free to leave at the conclusion of the performance.

A note from the counselor...
For the month of September, the topic we focused on in Counseling was school success. Throughout this month, we talked about a few different things that can help the students to be successful here at school. For instance, we discussed how creating a positive classroom environment, working hard / staying motivated, being organized / prepared for class, and having good time management / using our time wisely can all help us to be successful. Make sure to check back in about a month for another update on what we are doing in Counseling!
Reading Success Plans
DESE recognizes family engagement as a critical area of focus in its accountability for a quality education system.
All parents/guardians will be notified whether or not their child has a substantial reading deficiency and the implementation of an RSP. This initial notification will be in the form of a letter attached to students' diagnostic reports from i-Ready (state-approved reading assessment). The letter will also give a description of proposed supplemental services and supports designed to remediate the identified area of reading deficiency. Parents/guardians will also be given online resources to help support students at home.
