Week of February 12th
Message from Principal Drew...
We have a great opportunity for high school and middle school parents on Monday night. In partnership with the POE Center, PCHS will offer a informational session on vaping and e-cigarettes for parents only from 6:00 - 7:30 PM in the media center at the high school. This event will provide parents with information about vaping and the dangers it poses to our youth as well as tips on how to help you student avoid vaping or stop vaping for their long term health. Vaping is a growing trend among the teenage and young adult segment of our population that poses many health risks that are often more severe than traditional cigarettes. We hope to see each of you tomorrow night at this event.
Congratulations to Catherine Howell, Sabrina McNeil and our Winter Guard team. Catherine placed in the top 15 in two separate events at the NCHSAA State Swim Championships on Friday of last week. Sabrina will be singing to play soccer at Christopher Newport University on Tuesday and our Winter Guard team placed second in their competition this weekend at Grassfield High School. Congratulations to each of you.
This week is Love the Bus Week. We will take time throughout the week to honor our bus drivers and bus monitors. Please take time to do the same this week. If your child rides a bus please encourage them to say "Thank You" to their driver and monitor. Take the time to do the same if you are able to do so. Our drivers and monitors make school possible for so many of our students who couldn't attend school without their services. We are grateful for all of the drivers and monitors in Perquimans County Schools but especially those that drive for PCHS.
Valentine's Day is this Wednesday. PCHS will not be able to accept deliveries for students on this day. Balloons, glass vases, water and large stuffed animals can not be taken onto our buses or into our classrooms for a variety of safety concerns. While we encourage you to celebrate your children every day, including Valentine's Day, we ask that you respect this practice and have deliveries made to your students at home and not at school.
