News and Notes from the Principal
In just two days, the 2020-2021 school year will officially begin! Please remember that all students (face-to-face & eLearning) will be following the school bell schedule for all classes whether they are eLearners or attending school face-to-face. RHHS teachers will be teaching both face-to-face and eLearning students at the synchronously. Therefore, attendance will be taken at the beginning of each class, so eLearning students need to be present in each class’s Google Meet when roll is taken. Students will be marked tardy if they are late to class or absent if they do not log in to the Meet. If you are experiencing technical difficulties please let your teacher know so your child is not inadvertently dropped from the RHHS roster for being a "no show" on day 1.
For the first 2 days of school, students will follow the 1st Week Advisement Schedule. The specific bell schedules for each day are linked below. For those with A/B Day Classes, yearly calendar linked here.
- August 17 - 1st Week Advisement Schedule
- August 18 - 1st Week Advisement Schedule
- August 19 – Daily Bell Schedule
- August 20 – Thursday Advisement Schedule
- August 21 – No School for Students/Staff Planning Day
Students will need to have already joined each teacher’s Google Classroom, including their advisement teacher’s Google Classroom, prior to the 1st day of school. If you still need to obtain that information, you can find that information in each teacher’s virtual open house presentation.
If you would like to be added to your child’s Google Classrooms as a parent to receive weekly email summaries of work, simply email your student’s teachers, and they are able to do this for you. The information in the Parent’s Guide to Google Classroom may help you with the features of the platform if you are unfamiliar.
For eLearners, If you were unable to come to the material distribution drive-thru on Friday, you will be able to pick up beginning of school paperwork, as well as any textbooks or materials that your child needs for the first unit of their classes in the East Office Monday – Friday next week. Please remember that traffic is heavy in from 7 – 7:30am with school arrival and drop-off, so you may want to wait until after 7:30 to come by. Beginning of school paperwork can be returned to us by mail or you can drop it off in the East office in person.
For those of you selecting in-person schooling, please know that measures will be implemented to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 by re-arranging the way we do some of the following to include:
- Ecovasive Application throughout the School
- Arrival/Dismissal - All students will report directly to 1st Block upon arrival
- Class Arrangement
- Class Change - We will utilize both interior & exterior exits
- Bathroom Usage/Cleaning
- Lunch - Lunch will be eaten in the classroom/outside during scheduled times.
- Requirement of Face Coverings for ALL to respect and protect ALL!
- Instructional Areas/Bathrooms/Hi Touch Points sanitized between blocks
- Etc.
Educators continue to show that they truly are the building blocks of our society and have the most creative solutions to turn a challenge into an opportunity! Thank you for your attitude of gratitude & support of the process that has been taken to ensure that RHHS continues to shine! Take a minute, thank an educator!

Student Handbook and Parent Pledge
This year the Bryan County School District is introducing an online process for parents and students to “sign” (agree to the terms) the student handbook and the COVID Parent pledge form. The following link is provided here for your access, https://forms.gle/dM4hgaQ2o6kk8ihW6.
As a note, this link works for the entire district! The process first requests a link for an e-mail address so the agreement summary can be sent; it then collects the student’s first/last name, student number, attending school, and parent/guardian name, at the bottom are check boxes for the separate agreements. Once the form is completed, the credential and response acknowledgements are stored in a file and then uploaded into Powerschool overnight.
We hope that this transition to an online platform will reduce the amount of paperwork that you as a parent are required to maintain as well as remember to return to your child’s respective school. Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete this process.

Google Classroom for Parents
Think of Google Classroom (GC)as your child’s digital link to learning. One of the most beneficial features of Google Classroom for our E-Learners will be able to remote into the classroom for real-time instruction with peers. In addition, teachers use GC to share assignments, homework, newsletters, and much more with students AND parents!
