Happy Friday Las Positas,

So many exciting things happened this week.

Our students went to the Science Museum last Saturday and had a blast! They learned so much. Some of the students were enchanted by the aquarium portion. Field trips are a very "balanced" learning experience. It is fun, engaging, and you get your steps in!

We had Grand Pawsco. Pawsco is a reward store where students get to "purchase" prizes with the pride tickets they receive for being a model IB learner. This happens twice a month. Grand Pawsco only happens once each trimester and includes bigger prizes and experiences (movie with the teacher, lunch with the teacher, games with a teacher, etc.). We love catching our students doing the right thing and encouraging those positive behaviors through recognition.

This month we continue to focus on the IB Learner profile 'Balanced'

The IB Learner Profile Balance aims to develop learners who are balanced. Our goal is to allow students to discover and understand the importance of balancing different aspects of their lives. in order to achieve well being for themselves and others. We would like for our students to recognize their interdependence with other people and with the world in which they live.

If you see your child being balanced (intellectually, physically, and emotionally), take a picture and post it on twitter and/or instagram. Don't forget to tag #LasPositasLions. Please, let us know so that we can reward them a pride ticket.

How can families help develop students that are Balanced at home?

~Create a daily schedule that includes time for school work, outside physical activity, arts and music, rest, balanced meals.

~Allow time for a variety of activities daily with your children (school activities, indoor play, outside play, active play and quiet activities)

~Model doing a little bit of everything in front of your child: play, learn, exercise, rest, eat healthy foods

~Praise your child for demonstrating a balance lifestyle

~Visit many different places to learn: libraries, museums, nature trails and nature preserves, parks, Historical Parks

~Explore different hobbies: yoga, jogging, knitting, cards, marbles, collecting stickers
