Get Ready to Take the WVGSA Writing Assessment!

Students in Grades 3-8 will take the writing portion of the West Virginia General Summative Assessment between March 4 and March 15. Each school will have their own unique test schedule within this window.

This portion of the assessment is a part of the larger WVGSA spring testing. The English Language Arts, and Mathematics portions of the assessment will still be administered April 29 - May 24.

Please review the Pre-Testing Parent Letter provided below for additional information. You may also contact your school with any additional questions.

Why is the WVGSA Testing So Important?

The WVGSA provides important information that can be used to help improve instruction for each individual student. Results from the assessment can help teachers and school administrators pinpoint areas of weakness and identify possible achievement gaps to help teachers adjust instruction for each student.
