• Exterior welding of the building components has been completed.
• There was an air analysis, mold inspection, visual inspection and sample tests done on the entire building.
• The fence that is currently up will be modified sometime this week so that there will be more playground space available.
• Concrete pouring will begin for retaining wall and shade structure.

CVWD UPDATE

The pavement restoration on Orange Ave. has been postponed until further notice.

HALLOWEEN PARADE

On Tuesday, October 31, a Halloween Costume Parade will be held at 8:30 A.M. All students will march in the parade around school with classes standing in front of their classrooms or in a designated area as noted on this map. Parents are welcome to join their child’s class to view the parade. Please see the attached flier for costume parade guidelines.

It’s going to be a spook-tacular event!

FAMILY CURRICULUM NIGHTS

Join GUSD for their Family Curriculum Nights this week to hear more about what your child learns at school. Parents will have an opportunity to hear from GUSD curriculum experts in English language arts, mathematics, science, and history/social studies and look through the curriculum and materials for each subject. Presentations will be in the Glendale Performing Arts Center auditorium at Glendale High School and curriculum will be on display in the auditorium lobby.

Presentation Details

Each hour-long program will include the following presentations from Teaching and Learning content experts (10 minutes per topic):

• English Language Arts

• Mathematics

• Science

• History/ Social Science

• How parents can access their child’s curriculum using Clever

• Moderated Q&A

2023 ENGINEERING EXPO -- STEM FAIR K-8th | October 29

Falkon Robotics from Crescenta Valley High School is excited to invite you to attend their inaugural 2023 Engineering Expo: Gears, Gadgets, and Goosebumps, a public, STEM-focused event for families. This event is FREE for all and intended for students in grades K-8, but because capacity is limited, a ticket is required. Families can look forward to a fun-filled day of engineering challenges and robot demos! Food and concessions will be available to purchase. Here is the flier. Get your ticket today!

KOREAN DLI SUPPORT

The Crescenta Valley High School DLIA Club is run by high school students whose purpose is to give young students (specifically, elementary school students in the DLI program) who are learning new languages and content the support that they need to be successful in the Glendale Unified Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program. Every week, they host sessions over Zoom to provide assistance on homework, or general support in subjects like Korean, English, Math, and Science. This year, they will host the Zoom sessions twice a week and assign their members with the students. PTA MEMBERSHIP UPDATE… AND POPSICLE PARTY!

Thank you to everyone who has joined our PTA! We achieved above our school goal of 100%! All 27 classes got at least 100% participation in joining PTA, therefore all students have earned a popsicle party on Wednesday, October 18th!

Attention Green-Thumbed Parents! Are you ready to cultivate a passion for nature and growth in your young sprouts? Join our blossoming Monte Vista Garden Club, where we dig into the dirt and plant the seeds of curiosity! This isn't just any garden; it's a fertile ground for learning, where little hands nurture plants and cultivate knowledge. Let's sow the seeds of enthusiasm together and watch our children bloom into budding botanists and eco-champions! Let's make our school's garden the talk of the playground!

PTA DINE OUT at HANDEL’S ICE CREAM, LA CAÑADA | October 25

Join us on Wednesday, October 25th from 12pm - 10pm at Handel’s Ice Cream for a sweet treat and support Monte Vista, too! Handel’s is located at 711 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada. Handel’s will generously donate 20% of all proceeds to our school.
