A huge "thank you" goes out to Vicky Taylor (Executive Director of the Lake Highlands Public Improvement District) for sponsoring our fair themed food during Friday's professional development day! She donated donuts, chips, queso, corn dogs, salsa, jalapenos, soda, and lemonade for our faculty and staff breakfast and lunch! Thank you for always thinking about LHHS, our teachers, and our kids, Mrs. Taylor!

Thank you to the members of our National Honor Society who stopped by to help run the game stations on Friday during our brain breaks! They did a great job of encouraging our teachers, and they were able to earn service hours. Thank you, Olivia Goode (Campus Coach and NHS Sponsor), for your work with our NHS program and kids!

LHHS CELEBRATES NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH
We continue to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month at LHHS!
SPANISH CLASSES AT THE HISPANIC FLAMENCO BALLET
Ricardo Rivera's (Spanish 2 and Spanish 4) students had the opportunity to go to the Hispanic Flamenco Ballet, and they enjoyed the show. Thank you for making this experience possible, Mr. Rivera!
FOLKLORICO AT THE da VINCI SCHOOL
Our Wildcats in Folklorico had a great time performing at the da Vinci School! Thank you, Lydia Corwin (Dance 1, Wranglers Assistant Director, and Folklorico Director), for making this experience possible!
WILDCAT LEADERS
Our varsity cheerleaders stopped by LHJH last week to work with their cheer squad. They did a great job serving serving as mentors and helping our future Wildcats with their cheer moves. Thank you, Alan Kirby (Instructional Technology Coach and Varsity Cheer Coach), for making this experience possible!
VOLLEYBALL'S TEACHER APPRECIATION NIGHT
Our volleyball teams had a great time honoring their favorite teachers last week! Their favorites were invited to the game and received a volleyball cookie treat. Thank you, Tasha Hallam (Literacy Lab and Head Volleyball Coach), Markayla Dickie (Health and Assistant Volleyball Coach), Cree Lespierre (Art 1 and Freshman A Volleyball Coach), and Lily Miller (Integrated Physics and Chemistry and Freshman B Volleyball Coach), for taking the time to have your girls recognize their teachers!
THE BOB AND SUSIE DANCE
Everyone loves the annual Bob and Susie performance by the Highlandettes! Our "Kens" were so much fun to watch as they tried to keep up with the dance moves, and our Dettes were great partners! Thank you, Alison Esparza (Dance 1, Drill Team Prep, and Highlandettes Director) and Juniper Darrow (World History and Assistant Highlandettes Director), for coordinating such a fun routine!
AMAZING AVID LEADERS
Our AVID Seniors are doing great things! They are raising money for their end of the year banquet, and one of their ideas was to sell spirit items during all lunches. They sold red beads and red paw print stickers for last week's Red Out game. Thank you, Kerri Macy (AVID Lead Teacher, LHHS AVID Coordinator, AVID 4 and AVID 2), for your work with our AVID seniors!
ENGAGING EXPERIENCES

ANIMATION AT THE NATIONAL VIDEO GAME MUSEUM
Our Wildcats in Animation 2 visited the NVM to view the progression of video games and computer systems. They were able to see how graphics, consoles, and other technologies have advanced throughout the history of the video game industry from the first game console to now. Thank you, Annette Munson (Animation 1, Animation 2,and 3D Modeling Practicum), for taking the time to coordinate this important trip!
LEARNING FROM THE BEST
Kelly Burroughs (Visual Development Coordinator for Marvel Studios, LHHS Grad, and Mrs. Munson's former student) and Tyler Padgett (Level Designer for Infinity Ward) stopped by to speak with Mrs. Munson's students about careers in animation. Kelly has worked on films that include Thor, Dr. Strange, and Black Panther. Tyler's company is the one responsible for all of the Call of Duty video games. Our Wildcats loved hearing about what is available to them after high school, and they were definitely inspired by our two guests. Thanks for making this possible, Annette Munson (Animation 1, Animation 2,and 3D Modeling Practicum1)!
DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY AT THE ARBORETUM
Our students in Digital Photography visited the Arboretum to practice the techniques they have been learning in class. They had a wonderful time and enjoyed being able to get out and apply their learning to the real world. Thank you, Jason Young (AP Art History, Digital Photography 1, Digital Photography 2, Advanced Digital Photography 1 and 2, and Digital Art Media), for taking the time to coordinate this experience!
P-TECH BUSINESS ACADEMY STUDENTS AT DIGITAL REALITY
Our P-TECH Business Academy Wildcats had the best time at Digital Reality where they learned about the company, careers, and the skills necessary to succeed there. These Wildcats have gone above and beyond and will graduate from LHHS with a high school diploma and an Associates Degree in business! Thank you, Paul Simmons (RISD P-TECH Coordinator), for making this trip possible for our kids!
A VISIT FROM ROGER MATHEWS
Roger Mathews is a Wichita State University alum and has a master’s in Art Education. Mr. Mathews has an extensive history in art has been involved in local education and the art community since 1970. He is participating in the Cottonwood Art Festival in Richardson this weekend and took the time to stop by LHHS on Thursday to visit with one of our Advanced Art 1 classes. Mr. Mathews talked about his life experiences, what led him to a career in art, and the challenges and success he has had. Our Wildcats loved hearing from him and learning about all that can be done with an art degree. Thank you, Isaac Thomas (Art 1, Advanced Art 1, and Drawing 1), for taking the time to reach out to the leadership team at the Cottonwood Art Festival to find an artist who was interested in visiting LHHS!

Lydia Corwin's (Dance 1, Wranglers Assistant Director, and Folklorico Director) students created a dance routine and worked with her to review it.
Markayla Dickie's (Health and Assistant Volleyball Coach) students worked in teams to create posters focused on physical, emotional, and mental health.
Austin Funderberg's (World Geography) students participated in a stations activity over economic systes and the 5 levels of economic development.
Lindsey Hranitzky's (Forensics) students investigated a crime scene.
Crystal Ivy's (Law Enforcement 1, Law Enforcement 2, and Dual Credit Law Enforcement 2) students presented on unethical jailers and government employees in the criminal justice system.
Students in Liz Markos' (Art 1, Drawing 1, and Advanced Art 1) completed their illusion art and portfolio covers.
Kelly Moss' (Assistant Choir Director and CenterStage Director) students participated in a sight reading activity.
Prissy Robinson's (Principles of Education and Training, Child Development, and Teacher Internship Program) students created "What Children Need" silhouettes. They students cut out silhouettes of children and created a word cloud with words and phrases of what children need physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially to grow and develop.
Mark Slaughter's (Social Media/Advertising, Sports/Entertainment Marketing, and Boys Assistant Soccer Coach) students presented their projects on social media influencers.
Matt Smith (AP English 4 and RLA Co-Department Head) led a discussion over student engagement strategies.
