SCHOOL NEWS
TRAFFIC REMINDERS
Please do not cut in front of cars that are in Monty Lane. Sometimes it may look like they are parked because there is space in front of them, but they are probably trying not to block driveways.
Please do not exit your car in Monty Lane to pick your student up because it delays the car line flow. Our adults in Monty Lane will help your child come to your car.
Please avoid u-turns or 3-point turns during pick up/drop off. It causes traffic and increases chances for an accident to happen.
Please do not park across the street and cross Monty Lane traffic with your child.
Please share these reminders with everyone who drops off or picks up your child.
Welding has been completed and has passed inspection
We are awaiting a report from the hygienist who inspected the building for mold, air quality, etc.
SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL
Our next School Site Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 24th at 3:00pm via Zoom (https://glendaleusd.zoom.us/j/89242937475). The meeting agenda is posted in our school office. All Monte Vista parents are able to attend School Site Council meetings.
HALLOWEEN PARADE
On Tuesday, October 31, a Halloween Costume Parade will be held at 8:30 A.M. All students will march in the parade around school with classes standing in front of their classrooms or in a designated area as noted on this map. Parents are welcome to join their child’s class to view the parade. Please see the attached flier for costume parade guidelines.
It’s going to be a spook-tacular event!

READING INCENTIVE
This year, we will be offering a reading incentive for all of our students in a different way. Previously, we used Accelerated Reader and challenged students to meet a grade-level specific amount of points in order to be able to attend an end-of-the-year assembly. This year, primary and upper grade students will need to completely cover a reading Bingo card and record the books read in order to meet the challenge. Primary students will have two to complete, one for the first and last half of the year. The first one was sent in Thursday folders last week. For Upper grades, they were given a Bingo card by Mrs. Edwards, our librarian, at the beginning of the year. Since 4th-6th graders have longer books to read, they will be required to complete one Bingo card for the year.
If you know of families interested in our Korean DLI program, please encourage them to sign up for the tour. The tours are for new prospective families. Click here to sign up for the tour. The application for 2024-25 school year will be available on November 1, 2023. Please encourage those who may be interested in our Korean DLI program to sign up for the tour.
INTENT TO APPLY FOR KOREAN DLI KINDER in 2024-25
