Message from Principal Lunt
Dear Oak Tree Families,
Our first full week of school concludes today and already we find ourselves falling into a good routine throughout the school. Thank you for making the effort to have your students prepared and excited for their day each day!
We are so happy to have our new teachers on campus who add new perspectives and energy to our community. Miss Natalie Krafft and Mr. John Karoly join our Special Areas team for General Music and PE, respectively. Miss Gamez in 3rd grade and Mrs. Feldman in 5th grade round out those teams. Also, we have two new teachers in our Resource classrooms, Miss Van Eimeren, and Mrs. Lamb.
Next week we will host our Night of Expectations for all grade levels. On Tuesday, August 9th, students and parents in grades Pre-K, 1, 3, & 5 are invited from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. On Thursday, August 11th, students and parents in grades K, 2, 4, & 6 are invited from 6:00 to 7:00. We strongly encourage your attendance along with your child(ren) that evening. If possible, please have non-school-aged children remain at home. We look forward to seeing you then!
Thank you for helping our students and community to Stand Tall and SOAR High!

Nurse News
Hi, My name is Nurse Lindsay and I am the new RN at Oak Tree Elementary! I’m so excited to meet all the kids this year! Just to tell you a little about myself, I am from Arizona and have been a nurse for 17 years. I worked in the hospital setting up until recently and now I’m so excited to be an Oak Tree Eagle!
I am married and have one daughter and a sweet dog named Lucy that we rescued a few years ago. I love animals and want many many more!
I hope everyone had a great summer and is enjoying and adjusting to the first few weeks of school.
Health Office visits this week:
Headache: I have had a good number of students complain this week with rain at the start of
the week and cloudy skies continuing. Remind your child to eat breakfast. If they eat breakfast
at school, remind them again as many students get off the bus and head to the playground to
play instead of the cafe to eat breakfast. Staying hydrated is a plus, so packing a water bottle
for the school day will be a big help!
Stomach ache: As we start back to school after Summer Break and get back onto a school
schedule so does your child’s GI tract. Make sure they are eating breakfast at home/school and bringing a water bottle. Dehydration can cause stomach aches as well.
Last reminder, please make sure your child has all their up to date immunizations. 6th graders that are 11 must have their Tdap and Meningococcal vaccines. Please make sure that your child has this and we have records/copies by Aug 19, 2022 to comply with AZ state regulations. If your child is still 10 years old please make sure they are vaccinated within 15 days of their 11th birthday in 6th grade.
If your child is new to the school please make sure they are compliant with all up to date immunizations. Please make sure you submit this or bring it to the health office by August 19th.
I have sent letters out to all parents for reminders.
Have a wonderful week!!
