Grewenow. We are Great; we are Growing!

I am so proud of our students and families for your efforts ensuring good school attendance for the month of March. I am able to report (with PRIDE!) that we had 90 Grewenow students with perfect attendance in March which is 25% of our total student body. That means these students were here on time, all day, and every day, learning in their classrooms. We held a recognition assembly for their efforts. Check out the video below...

Next Tuesday, students in Grades 3-5 will begin taking the Wisconsin Forward Exam (our state's standardized test). Each spring students take this assessment in the areas of reading, writing, and math (grade 4 is also assessed on social studies and science).

The Forward Exam is a component for how Grewenow is measure on the School Report Card, and the feedback families receive about their student's performance on the test will only be a snapshot of what they knew and were able to do academically in the assessed areas the day they took the assessment.

Though the Forward Exam is an important assessment for reasons listed above, it does NOT in any way define our students as the wonderful, thoughtful, caring, and kind young people they are.

Friday, April 13th, 2018 from 4:00 - 10:00pm is Family Fun Night at Action Territory. This is a great activity that also benefits our school. Families are encourage to get out and attend. Activities Include:

Indoor Activities: 1 Laser Tag Game, 1 Bumper Car Ride,
Unlimited Ballocity, and $5 in game play ($6pp / 33% goes back to the school )

Unlimited Indoor: Unlimited Laser Tag, Bumper Cars, The Vault,
Ballocity, and $5 in game play. ($10pp / 33% goes back to the school )

Outdoor Play: 1 Go Kart Ride, 1 Bumper Boat Ride,
Unlimited Mini Golf, and $5 in game (play. $6pp / 33% goes back to the school)

Unlimited Indoor and Outdoor: Unlimited Laser Tag, Bumper Cars, The Vault, Bumper Boats, Go Karts, Mini Golf, and Ballocity ($20pp / 37% goes back to the school )

Registration for Summer School begins on March 19 and runs through until May 11, 2018.
Students can be registered online at: www.kusd.edu/departments/summeropportunities or, at your child's school office.
*Registration at boundary areas schools is guaranteed until May 11th, 2018. After May 11, enrollment depends on available space.

Parents and caregivers, Please do NOT to pull into the parking lot as we have several students that walk through this area and it is NOT safe for them when we have unauthorized cars coming and going.

Grewenow Families!!! Grewenow will be having a CLOTHING DRIVE for the Foster Kids Foundation during the week of April 9-13. Many times children are placed in foster care with only the clothing they are wearing. Please consider donating clothing for this great cause! We have a collection bin in the front office. Your support for this great cause is appreciated. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Mrs. Wideman, our school Social Worker, at 262-359-5974, or the school office, at 262-359-6362.

If your student had perfect attendance in March, their name will be entered in a drawing for a chance to throw a pie at Mr. Sellenheim, on Friday, April 13!

School attendance is a crucial part of student success, and in addition to exciting learning opportunities students receive each day, there is no reason to add to the fun with a little pie!

Pre-Order forms were sent home on April 11th.
Pictures will only be taken on April 17th for those students who have filled out their form and pre-paid their order.

Our 3rd- 5th Social is taking place on April 19th at 2:30 PM-4:00 PM.

Every child deserves to grow up in a safe, stable, and nurturing environment. Please join us during April to “Say Something, Do Something for Kids,” by promoting and strengthening child abuse prevention efforts in Wisconsin.

Families with children can receive FREE winter coat, toy, and food.
