Per Diem Substitute Teaching - Walk In Interviews
Per Diem Substitutes work when they can. Availability can range from 1 day per week to 5 days per week. At times, we also have half day shifts available. This is a great flexible opportunity to work within our school community!

Arrival at School Each Day
Each day, a few thousand people come to our campus. By following our arrival expectations, each person can do their part to ensure that the process is as smooth as possible. For a student to be on time they need to be seated in their first period class at 7:25 am.
Students Arriving by Car, Foot, or Bike:
Students not utilizing bus transportation should all enter via Door T (see map below). If you are dropping off your child, please remind them to enter through Door T in the East Street lot. Door T opens at 7 am and students arriving before 7:15 am using this entrance will be directed to the Cafeteria if they are getting breakfast or the Auditorium if they are not. At 7:15 am students will be dismissed from the Auditorium and Cafeteria to class. Door T remains open and supervised until 7:25 am.
Students Arriving by Bus
Students taking the bus that are getting breakfast will be released at 7:05 am to enter the building and get into line for breakfast. Students not getting breakfast will be released at 7:15 am and they will head directly to class. . All bus riders entering the building prior to 7:15 am are expected to be there for breakfast.
If You are Dropping Off
Left turns create traffic. The more drivers do to avoid left turns on East Street between 7:00 am and 7:20 am the better. The parallel spots on East Street are intended for people actively dropping off students. Please do not use parking spots in our East Street Lot. There are not enough spaces for faculty and staff as is and anyone using these spots during the school day is making it beyond challenging for staff to get to their classrooms on time.
If you are traveling on East Street towards the Mansfield Green, please drop off your child using the parallel spots on that side of the road or in the Robinson bus loop. Students may cross East Street with the help of the crossing guard in front of the school.
If you are traveling on East Street towards North Main Street, please drop off using the parallel spots on that side of the street or in the East Street lot.
Students may NOT BE DROPPED OFF IN THE BUS LOOP between 7:00 am and 7:25 am. When these routines are followed, traffic continues to move and things work pretty well.
Arrival on the First Day of School
Students arriving before 7:15 am will follow the typical drop off routines. At 7:15 am students in the cafeteria, auditorium, and on buses will be dismissed to meet their assigned teams in their designated areas. Anyone arriving after 7:15 am should report directly to their designated area. Here are those areas:
Grade 6: At the bottom of the main entrance ramp.
Grade 7: In the front of the school near the "Harold L. Qualters Middle School" Sign
Grade 8: On the football field
Students will report to their grades area and see the person holding up the sign with their team's name. In the event of inclement weather, we will share alternate interior locations.
After School Expectations
We have made changes to how we structure our after school time at QMS. Late buses will begin running at QMS starting September 11th. The late bus is available for bus riders staying after school for a club, activity, or extra help. Students who do not take the bus can leave using their preferred method of transportation after their after school commitment ends.
Clubs and activities run until 2:55 pm. At 2:55 pm, students are dismissed from clubs or activities to either board the late bus or to head home by other means.
Teachers stay after for extra help three times per week. These sessions last until 2:20 pm and occassionally they run longer. Students must sign up with a teacher for extra help at least one school day in advance. If a student is taking the late bus, they will need to have a reserved a seat in the homework room for their grade (this happens when they sign up with their teacher for extra help - it is a one stop transaction). The homework room is where they will wait for the bus. While there they can work silently on homework, reading, or studying. Each grade has their own homework room and there are a limited number of seats available each day. Students staying after that walk or get picked up can leave after extra help is done at 2:20 pm.
Students may only stay after school if they are participating in a club, activity, or receiving extra help. There is no general area to hang out after school.

Bus Routes
A few reminders for families as we start the new school year. During the first week of school, please allow a 15-minute window for your student’s morning pick-up and afternoon drop-off. For example, if your student’s morning pick-up time is listed as 7:55 AM, for the first week of school you should be at the bus stop no later than 7:40 AM.
Likewise, dismissal during the first week of school, especially at the elementary level, typically takes longer than usual. Do not be alarmed if your student is not dropped off according to the published schedule. Please follow us on Facebook and we will post updates when buses leave each school to help you gauge your student’s arrival home.
While bus routes are published and available for everyone to view, families who have submitted a transportation request form and paid (if applicable) will receive a Bus Route Confirmation Email on August 17th (emails will be sent in the early evening). For the first 5 days of school, no one will be denied transportation to school so that you can secure your transportation if you have not already done so. The confirmation email secures your student’s seat both to and from school for the school year. Again, If you do not receive an email and you need transportation, please contact Leslie Green at transportation@mansfieldschools.com.
At QMS, bus passes are distributed on the first day of school. A sticker wlll be affixed to your studentś ID signifying they take a particular bus.
