Principal's Message
Good afternoon Canby High School Students and Families!
This was another busy week at CHS as we prepare to welcome all students back to school. I had the pleasure of seeing students at Band Camp and registration. It warms my heart to connect with students and families this August as we get ready for a great year.
Speaking of registration, there is still time to come to the HS this afternoon/evening (Thursday, 8/25) to get ID cards, lockers, parking passes, and Ipads. We also have accounting and online verification help available. We are here until 7 PM.
We are excited for our Open House event on Wednesday, August 31. Meet us near the stadium. There will be special activities for incoming 9th graders starting at 4:00 PM with tours and a question and answer session. At 5:00, we are hosting a Back to School Barbecue with free burgers for the first 1000 people. A huge thank you to Burgerville, Cutsforth Marketplace, Sysco, and the CHS Booster Club for making this happen. At 6:00, we will have a “welcome” at Cougar Stadium followed by an Open House. See below for more information. Please join us!
Also next week, all staff is back, and we are engaging in professional development. Please note CHS offices will be closed Tuesday AM and all day Wednesday as our staff attend these important training sessions. We are open 8-3 for the rest of the week to assist you.
The next newsletter will be the last one before school officially begins. Remember that our school hours have changed to 8:40-3:40, and we have early release on Wednesdays at 2:40. We are looking forward to the start of school.
Best,
Cari Sloan

Fall sports have started and competitions start this week! For details on practice times and locations, go to CanbyAthletics.com and click on each individual sport for details including contact information for coaches.
In order to participate, each athlete must be cleared on RegisterMyAthlete.com. Please create a free account and follow the steps to register your student athlete. For help, contact Heather Britt, our athletics secretary at heather.britt@canby.k12.or.us or call 503-263-7216. Registration includes: medical history update, signed waiver forms, impact testing, and an updated physical exam (must expire less than 2 years old at the end of the season).
For the impact testing requirement, contact Heather Britt for an appointment or details on how to complete (contact info above). We will be announcing drop in times on CanbyAthletics.com soon.
Schedules:
We have all of our athletics schedule all in one place on our master athletic schedule. This includes game times, locations, and bus departure times. It is updated real-time by your athletic department. Go to this link to see the current schedule, which is subject to change with little notice.
Get involved in the CHS fall play: The Servant of Two Masters!
This hilarious show is adapted from the classic Italian comedy by Carlo Goldoni. The hijinks of the many colorful characters are framed by the story of a struggling theatre -- will the play's convoluted schemes be enough to get each character their heart's desire, even as the show itself dangles by a thread?
AUDITIONS will be after school on Tuesday, September 6 & Wednesday, September 7, with callbacks on Thursday, September 8. Rehearsals are Monday-Friday after school and begin September 12. Performances will be the evenings of November 3-5 and 10-12.
Any CHS student can audition! Email director Sullivan Mackintosh (sullivan.mackintosh@canby.k12.or.us) for info about signing up for auditions, or email tech director Jared Jonas (jared.jonas@canby.k12.or.us) for info about theatre tech opportunities.
